June started to cackle. "Then the zombie girl ate the little boy's foot, and he turned into a zombie!" We all shrieked. That was a really scary story, I wondered how June told that without freaking out. "Okay Beth, your turn!" June grinned.

"My turn already? Oh, okay then. I know a good one." Beth cracked her knuckles. "You guys ready?" Mackenzie, Sonia, Avery, Kyrie, and I all nodded. We knew Beth's scary stories were the best.

"Around 200 years ago, there was a young man. He was very talented with magic tricks and such. As he grew older, he got more skilled and learned more tricks. One of those tricks was called The Illusion. It would allow him to portray a terrifying image in the mind of the person of his choice. It would be so scary that once it flashed into that person's mind, the person would freeze internally. They would still be alive but their mind would be frozen. A few years later, his wife divorced him, and he got so upset he performed The Illusion on her. She was eternally frozen, although she still had a pulse. He didn't do this trick very often, so after he froze his wife, he got so obsessed with doing it on people that he became nicknamed The Illusionist. People would try to avoid him as much as possible so they wouldn't become frozen. One day, a person was sick and tired of living in fear of The Illusionist. He decided to go kill him so the other people could live without being scared. At night, he went over to The Illusionist's house and brought a black rose. The rose was poisoned and if someone took a whiff of it, they would die. He left the black rose outside The Illusionist's house and hid behind the bushes to see if he would die. As the person predicted, The Illusionist came back home shortly and saw the rose. 'Ah! A beautiful black rose, for me?' The Illusionist exclaimed. He picked it up and sniffed it, and in a few seconds dropped dead. The townspeople cheered, for the devil was gone. They all bought black roses to celebrate, and when they sniffed them, they all died as well. It turns out that the roses they bought were poisoned too. Nowadays, people think if you buy a black rose and sniff it, you'll die because The Illusionist's soul is supposedly within the rose." Beth's eyes widened.

I looked around at everyone. Kenzie's jaw was so wide open that I thought I saw a fly go in there. Sonia was shivering and when I poked her, I started shivering myself. Avery had a horrified expression on her face. Kyrie was just sitting there, pretty calm. June had an evil smile on her face, so I assumed she really enjoyed it.

"Well? What'd you guys think?" Beth beamed. We were all pretty much speechless except for me.

"Yeah, that one was pretty good. But not good enough!" I smirked.

Beth shot me an irritated look. "Anna, I tried my best. Why don't you tell one since you seem to be the expert on judging scary stories?"

"Do you really want me to tell you a scary story?" I asked her as my eyebrows raised.

"From your imaginative mind, no thanks!" Beth and the others muttered quickly.

"Yeah, I thought so." I smiled innocently as the doorbell rung.

"Oh, someone's here!" June said. She got up and went to open the door.

"Hi girls! How are you?" June's mom chirped.

"Hi Mrs. Rodriguez!" We all smiled at her.

"Oh by the way Junie, you know how your daisies died?" she said as June frowned. "Well, I went to the florist just now, and got you some black roses to replace your daisies. Is that okay?"

We all stared at June with wide eyes, wondering if she would accept her mom's kind present to her. "Sure! Black roses are really pretty." June beamed at her mom. Her eyes looked like they were saying 'Do you guys really think these are cursed? Wimps.' I raised my eyebrow at her. I could care less if she wants to keep the roses but I was kind of worried if she sniffed them.

"Okay girls, want me to drop you home?" Mrs. Rodriguez offered us.

"Great! Thanks!" Avery said. We got in Mrs. Rodriguez's car and she dropped us home one by one.

~*~*~Next Day~*~*~

I decided to take my bike over to June's house because I left my phone there. I couldn't call her to tell her in advanced, so I felt kind of rude for going there on such short notice. I rang the doorbell and stood there, waiting for someone to answer the door.

"Eh? Oh hey Annabelle. Can I help you with anything?" June's older brother Oliver asked.

"Oh hey Oli. Is June there? I left my phone and I want to ask her if she saw it or not." I told him.

"Oh...err...Junie's sick. She came down with a cold." Oliver scratched his head nervously.

"June's sick? Dammit, she shouldn't have worn shorts." I muttered to myself. "Can I still come in though? I want to make sure she's okay..."

"Sure, just be careful not to get sick." he advised.

I took of my shoes and closed the front door. I went up to June's room, tiptoeing so I wouldn't wake her up or anything. "June?" I whispered as I opened her bedroom door.

June was a mess. She had a bad case of bedhead, she had bags under her eyes, her nose was all red, and there were tissues surrounding her bed. "Oh hey Anna" she coughed.

"June! God, you look terrible. Ugh...this is all my fault...do you need anything? I feel so bad." I groaned.

She coughed and it sounded so painful. "Err...actually...can you hand me the black roses? I read online a while ago that black roses are supposed to clear your sinuses."

I stared at her with a worried expression but she just smiled. "Anna, you should know that I don't believe in Beth's stories by now." she said.

I sighed and reached for the flowers. I handed them over to June, and she inhaled deeply.

"Thanks Anna...you can go now, I'll take a nap..." she mumbled as her eyelids closed shut.

"Sure...get better soon, June!" I chirped happily as I left.

~*~*~Next Day~*~*~

I yawned. Why had mom my woke me up this early on a Saturday? "Hurry up Anna! You're gonna miss it!" yelled my mom.

I ran downstairs to see why she was screaming. Her mouth was wide open and she was pointing at the TV. I glanced over to see what was so serious.

"This is Channel 4 News. We are currently outside the Rodriguez household. Kimberly and Tyler Rodriguez's daughter, June Rodriguez, has been found in a coma apparently. This was guessed to be caused by her bad cold yesterday. The doctors aren't sure if it's even a coma yet, and they are running tests to see what this strange state is. Stay tuned for more." said the reporter. I gasped. June was in a coma? But how? Suddenly, I remembered what she asked for yesterday. "Err...actually...can you hand me the black roses? I read online a while ago that black roses are supposed to clear your sinuses." I gasped. That must mean...the curse of the Illusionist was true.

Troy318, forgive me for the bad ending. I don't want to spend my birthday writing a story with an unknown ending. Hope you still like it though
