EXT. THE COMMONS - DAY

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SPLITS THE AIR, interrupting the crowded
temple courts. The people go silent and suddenly all eyes
turn upward to the high court porch. The crowd holds it's
breath as every living soul knows they are about to see the
King.

EXT. THE STAGE OF THE HIGH COURT - DAY

Assembled at various levels on either side of the stage, all
the Officials of Israel, the princes of all the Tribes, and
the Commanders of hundreds and the Overseers of all the
property and livestock belonging to the King and his sons
with the Officers and the Mighty Men, even the Valiant Men
stand to their feet as an aged King David is carried onto the
stage.

KING DAVID
(echoing loudly)
Listen to me my brethren and my
people! I had intended to build a
permanent home for the Ark of the

KING DAVID (cont'd)
Covenant of the Lord, and for a
footstool of our God. So, I made
preparations to build it, but God
made it clear to me that I would
not, saying, "because you are a
man of war and bloodshed", He has
chosen, of all my sons, Solomon,
to sit on the throne of the
Kingdom over Israel. And God said
to me, " Your son Solomon is the
one who shall build My house and
My courts for I have chosen him to
be a son to Me and I will be a
Father to him."

The crowds CHEER but David lifts his hand to bring silence.

KING DAVID
Now in the sight of all Israel,
the assembly of the Lord and in
the hearing of God, I pass the
throne of my Kingdom to my son
Solomon.

David turns his head to face Solomon.

KING DAVID
Solomon, observe and seek after
all the commandments of the Lord
your God, in order that you may
possess the good land and give it
to your son's after you forever.

David hands Solomon the plans of the Temple, the plans of
all he had in mind, for the courts of the house of the Lord.

KING DAVID
Be strong and courageous and act.
Do not fear or be dismayed for the
Lord God, my God, is with you. He
will not fail you or forsake you.
Be strong until all the work for
the service of the house of the
Lord is finished. Now behold and
see before you, the divisions of
the Priests, and the Levites, for
all the service of the house of
God and every willing man of any
skill will be with you in all the
work for all kinds of service. The
Officials also and all the people
will be entirely at your command.

David bows his head low in humble honor to Solomon, and looking back
to face the people, he raises his arms in supplication.

KING DAVID
Now bless the Lord your God!

And all the assembly and the people blessed the Lord, the
God of their father's and bowed low and did homage to the
Lord and to the King.
