ꜱᴜɴɴʏ ᴄᴏᴍɪɴɢ ᴛᴏ visit Faraway Town was the best! He either stayed at Kel and Hero's house or Basil's house, but it didn't matter who he stayed with because his visits were awesome! Too bad they only lasted a week or two. Him staying for a month or two would be so cool!

This week, Sunny was staying with Kel and Hero. Kel's parents allowed Basil and Aubrey to come over for a sleepover too, so now they had everyone!

It was great. Watching a movie together—a Captain Spaceboy one, obviously—baking cookies together—the four mentally killed Hero again and again with their baking skills—and just hanging out brought old memories to Kel and new ones he would always cherish.

Plus, the sleepover also brought another thing: for most of it, he could be pretty close to Aubrey. As insightful as he was, Sunny threw him knowing looks every now and then whenever Kel sat next to her or did something the way she wanted it without much of an argument.

He saw him whisper something to Basil, and Basil almost immediately smiled to Kel. Did he know now? Eh, whatever; Basil wouldn't tell anyone.

With their sleepover coming to the sleeping part, Kel and Hero cleared the middle of their room so mattresses could be placed for their friends. Kel was ecstatic when Aubrey chose the mattress closest to his bed, but he tried not to visibly show it—though he did smile to Sunny who returned it with a nod.

So now they had to go to sleep. Hero turned off the lights, and everyone got to sleep. Or, Kel thought they did.

He heard Aubrey tossing and turning, and it bothered him. Not because he couldn't sleep because of that—well, maybe a little—but because he didn't want her to be unable to sleep. Her reputation in Faraway Town wasn't changing anytime soon, but she was putting in the effort to change it for the better little by little. Since everyone's view on her was negative and almost no one would give her an easier time, she deserved all the rest in the world.

Kel got out of bed and crouched down next to her. "Aubrey, why are you still up?"

She looked up at him and glared. Her blue contact lenses looked brighter in the dark, but if he was being honest, he preferred her natural dark brown eyes. As pretty as her contacts were, her natural eyes were more of the "real" her, and he didn't get to see that or her natural eyes often.

She turned around, her arms awkwardly in front of her. She stayed still for a while before her face scrunched up with annoyance.

"Is the mattress uncomfortable?" he asked, careful to not wake up anyone. "We can switch, if you want."

"It's fine," she grumbled—definitely not fine.

"Is it just one of those days where you can't go to sleep?" he continued. "If that's the case, we can stay up together for as long as you want."

Aubrey turned her head to face him. "Why are you being so nice to me?"

A million answers ran through Kel's head. Because I like you. Because I want you to go to sleep. Because I want to see you sleeping without any worries. Because you're cute when you sleep. Because I want you to sleep, forget you're asleep, and wake up to see you next to me and feel my heart race at how pretty you look. Because you not sleeping worries me.
