ᴡʜᴇɴ ᴀᴜʙʀᴇʏ ʀᴇᴀʟɪᴢᴇᴅ she didn't feel the butterflies swarming in her stomach she usually got after kissing Kel, she knew something was off. She was getting used to all of the romantic things between her and Kel, and maybe she would eventually get bored of their relationship.

She hated that thought.

But she also didn't want to talk about it. Communication was essential for romantic relationships, but she was still working on being more open with her boyfriend. Plus, Kel always seemed to get flustered with romantic gestures, so maybe it was just her.

But even with each cuddle, date, and kiss, she lost more of the butterflies she got when they first did those things. They flew off to who knew where, and they probably weren't coming back.

If she didn't feel that way around him anymore, did that mean she didn't like him anymore? Did they have to break up? But she didn't want to break up with him! But what happened after you lost the butterflies? Act like nothing happened?

Aubrey still didn't want to talk to Kel in case it was just her. She talked to Hero about it instead, and even then she was still reluctant to talk about it with him. But he was the only one she knew and trusted with relationship advice. He and Mari were the closest to what she knew to be true love, so even if there was no more Mari, Hero was her go-to person for relationship help.

Hero told her what she didn't want to hear. "Talk to Kel about it."

"But what if it's just me?" Aubrey asked. "He never looks like he's going through the same thing..."

"By now, you should know my brother doesn't share as much as everyone thinks," Hero said. "Just talk to him. Kel's understanding and cooperative. I'm sure you'll find a solution."

"But what does it all mean?"

"What does what mean?"

"What does the no-butterflies mean? I don't feel...tingly anymore after he kisses me. Does that mean I'm losing feelings...?"

"Do you still want to be with him?"

"Obviously."

"Do you want to date someone else?"

"No."

Hero smiled at her. "Then this just means that you might be ready for a long-term relationship."

That scared her. She knew ever since she was a kid that she wanted a romantic partner that would stay with her for a long period of time, but something about the words "long-term" sounded scary.

But Kel should know. She should just talk to him, just like Hero said.

So, she asked him if they could talk at her house. Despite it being messy, her room was a safe place for her; it was hard to hear when her mother was on a rampage downstairs, her mother couldn't climb ladders, and she had her adorable pet rabbit Bun-Bun. She didn't trust talking to Kel anywhere else about it.

When they were there, Bun-Bun was fast asleep. Seeing the rabbit asleep, Kel immediately was in a better mood. He flopped down on her bed and smiled at her. "So, is this a conversation that needs cuddles?"

Whenever they needed to talk, he would always ask her if they should cuddle while they talked. He learned that she found it easier to talk about things if she was comfortable and didn't have to look at his face, so he found that cuddles worked perfectly.
