Amnesia

Chapter 40

Penny slowly drifts awake, keenly aware of the empty space beside her. She's on her stomach, face pressed into the pillow and peering over the edge, she finds Avi's side of the bed empty. Sliding her hand across the sheets, she feels the warmth of his body still held within the fabric and knows he hasn't been gone long. The soft orange glow of the setting sun streams in through the slats in the blinds and Penny guesses there's only about an hour before darkness sets.

Lifting her head from the pillow to search for Avi, she's slowly pushed back down, his hand light against her shoulder blades. Penny shivers, but eases into his touch as he pulls the covers down, exposing her naked frame. The mattress depresses as Avi kneels down and straddles her thighs, running his thumbs along the crease where her leg meets hip before gently tracing her sides and brushing the hair from her shoulders. Pressing a soft kiss to the top of her shoulder, he murmurs his hello into her skin.

Just as suddenly as he kissed her, his lips are gone from her skin. Penny's about to turn around and protest when Avi places a warm, open-mouthed kiss to the base of her spine. His beard scrapes against her skin, sending tingles along her limbs as he continues to kiss up her spine, his tongue wetting her skin. As Avi reaches the base of her neck, he leans further into her bottom and Penny can feel his erection nestled against her hip.

Penny grins into the pillow as she pushes her hips back into his and relishes in the breathy groan he whispers against her neck. Tilting her chin up so she's facing him, Avi kisses her sweetly, his moan vibrating against her lips. Pulling back slightly, he whispers, "Turn over."

Flicking her gaze up to Avi's, Penny finds his eyes staring into hers, his pupils blown wide with desire. Penny shifts, propping herself up on her forearms and turns half on her side, forcing Avi to rise up onto his knees. He swirls his hands across her hip, his eyes following his movements and his fingers dipping briefly along her inner thigh before retreating.

Penny bites her lip and barely contains her moan as she watches his skin on her own. Blinking back up at her, Avi rests his hand against her back and sighs, "I just...I need you."

A flurry of emotions swirl in Penny's chest and turning completely on her back, she wraps her legs around Avi's slim hips and leans up, kissing the hollow of his throat. "I need you, too," Penny replies, running her fingers along his jaw.

Avi drags his hands down Penny's sides, gripping her bottom and pulling her hips flush with his. Penny groans at the thick feel of him between her legs and she thrusts against him, gasping as Avi leans down and draws a nipple between his lips. He drags his mouth along her skin to her mouth, kissing her once, twice before slipping inside her with a sigh.

They wrap themselves within one another, remaining tangled until the sun dips below the horizon.

"We need to get up," Penny says, stilling the fingers that were running through Avi's hair.

Avi's lying curled next to her, one leg thrown over her hip, his head resting comfortably between her breasts. He makes a noncommittal noise low in his throat and mumbles, "Not yet. Keep doing that thing with your fingers."

Penny laughs, but resumes alternating between scratching his scalp and rubbing circles through his hair. Avi hums in contentment and pulls her closer. Brushing a curl from his forehead, Penny presses a light kiss just above his eyebrow. "Seriously, Avi, as much as I'd love to stay in bed with you," Penny can feel him smile against her skin, "we have at least an eight hour car ride and you have a show tomorrow."

Sighing heavily, Avi props himself up and looks up at her. "Okay," he relents, leaning up to kiss her. Penny hums against his lips and laughs as Avi kisses her, once, twice, three more times. "Okay, okay, I'm getting up."
