2012

Steve is currently in the gym as he does every day. It's the only place he goes after his apartment this past year. While he's punching the bag that's hanging there, he's thinking about his past.

About how he fought off Hydra's forces, his fight with Johann Schmidt, aka the red skull and about Kiara Carter. She's been on his mind this past year. Little does Steve know she's alive.

But Nick kept that from him, trying to figure out to tell him that she's alive, but doesn't remember him, her past and her name.

Nick did tell her about her past. About where she's really from. But she doesn't remember anything.

'Trouble sleeping?' Nick asks.

'I slept for 70 years, sir. I think I've had my fill.' Steve says as he keeps on punching the bag.

'Then you should be out, celebrating, seeing the world.'

'When I went under, the world was at war. I wake up, they say we won. They didn't say what we lost.'

'We've made some mistakes along the way. Some, very recently.'

'Are you here with a mission, sir?'

'I am.'

'Trying to get me back in the world?'

'Trying to save it.' Nick says as he hands Steve a file.

'Hydra's secret weapon.' Steve says as he sits down.

'Howard Stark fished that out of the ocean when he was looking for you. He thought what we think. The Tesseract could be the key to unlimited sustainable energy.' Nick explains. 'That's something the world sorely needs'

'Who took it from you?' Steve asks as he hands the file back to Nick.

'He's called Loki. He's not from around here. There's a lot we'll have to bring you up to speed on if you're in. The world has gotten even stranger than you already know.'

'At this point, I doubt anything would suprise me.' Steve says as he stands up.

'Ten bucks says you're wrong.'

Steve wants to walk away, but Nick stops him before he can get out, knowing who's outside.

'Rogers, before you walk outside, there is something you need to know.'

'And what is that?'

'There is someone. . . from your past working for me. She doesn't remember you. She doesn't remember anything from her past.'

Steve looks at Nick with a confused look, trying to understand who he means.

'Who?' Steve asks.

'Natalia? You can come in here.'

Then the girl who Steve thought he was never, ever gonna see again walks in. She's wearing a black suit, wears some sort of gloves around her under arms and on her belt is a red hour-glass marking. Her hair is not blond anymore, it's black. And it seems like she's seeing a stranger.
