Chapter 18

Nat walked around the grocery store with tears threatening to spill at any moment, Wanda had been hesitant towards her again, mostly hiding behind Yelena. She knows that yesterday was just burst of excitement took over the girl after being worried she was abandoned by the redhead.

She grabbed the strawberries with a heavy heart and went to pay.

Wanda's sign language had gotten better, she could say some sentences and even if she signed something wrong, it mostly can be understood. She hasn't spoke since she woke up which wasn't necessarily a worrying thing as she sometimes had days where she didn't speak.

It was becoming frustrating not being able to understand her feelings that's been going on, she wants to have everything normal again with Nat but she still feels as if there's something holding her back from doing so.

She did feel happy when Nat came back with the promised strawberries, she signed a thank you before giving the woman a quick hug.

Nat washed and cut them up, giving them to Wanda who took them happily. Swinging her legs back and forward while eating them.

"Can we talk detka?" she said softly. Wanda kept one strawberry against her mouth as she looked at her then searched for Yelena, Yelena was far enough that they could have a private conversation but also close enough that the girl could see her. She looked back to the woman and nodded.

"Mama just wants to talk about what happened and auntie Lena said you've had some problems while I was away. Do you want to talk about it?"

Wanda shrugged, going in for another strawberry. Nat took that has a good sign, she didn't say no but she was willing to try.

"When I yelled at you, I didn't mean to detka. I was stressed with work and it came out which I shouldn't have done and I'm sorry. Here will never be like hydra, even if you make a mistake you will never, ever, get treated the way you did and I'm sorry that I snapped at you I really am" she said, wanting to make sure Wanda understood it wasn't about something she did.

Wanda nodded before signing, "I thought you left me"

"I would never leave you sweet girl, I had to go on a mission that I couldn't refuse but I'll always come back to you" her voice breaking at the end. The girl nodded again, she could tell that Nat was being genuine. "Never like hydra?"

Nat shook her head, "never"

"But I was being a baby when you left" she signed in shame. Nat felt a pang in her chest, "I left for the mission very unexpectedly and after something bad that I did, of course it would have an effect on you and I'm sorry. You weren't being a baby, you saw me when you slept then didn't the next morning"

Wanda wiped her hands on the tissue before shyly lifting her arms up to be in Nat's lap. The woman did with no hesitation, she missed the feeling of her little girl. "I wet the bed mama" she said quietly.

Nat wrapped her arms around Wanda's waist so she wouldn't fall off her lap. "Auntie Lena told me and that's okay, you don't have to be embarrassed"

"I was scared, wanted mama back" she mumbled sadly, gripping Nat's shirt.

"That's okay if you were scared and I'm sure auntie Lena took good care of you hm?" she said with a smile. Wanda nodded, "auntie Lena is best"

They talked a bit more, Wanda explaining her feelings and the complications she's been feeling the past few days but at the end she felt better. Nat explaining how she never stopped loving her and reassured her it was okay if she still needed more time.

"Is okay mama, I forgive you" she said with a toothy grin. Nat squished her cheeks softly which made her laugh and do the same on the woman too. "Finally!" Yelena said, witting on the chair next to them. "Mama back" Wanda said, her voice high pitched.

Yelena smiled softly at her, the only time she smiled like that was with her, her big sister and maybe Kate but she would never admit it. "I'm always right little spider"

Nat rolled her eyes at the comment but she was glad her little family was back together, "mama can I be avenger too?" until Wanda almost gave her a heart attack. "Not until you're 26" the girl whined but Nat interrupted her, "you're lucky I didn't say 30"

"Auntie Lena can I be avenger?"

Yelena who was busy eating whatever snack she got, completely focused on scrolling on her phone, didn't hesitate to answer. "Of course"
