Chapter 3: Deal With a Mysterious Cookie

The bright light that had enveloped Kirby's eyes slowly began to fade out, and Kirby could start to see again. He blinked, despite regaining his sight, he couldn't make out where he was. It didn't feel like it was a part of the waking world, but he wasn't asleep, so this wasn't a dream. He felt like... he was in his mind.

Or... was it someone else's mind?

"Hello?" Kirby called out in this mind space "Hello? (Hm... that's not working, maybe I should use my signature greeting.)

"Hai! Anyone here?"

Suddenly, Kirby's vision filled with bright light again. He had to cover up his eyes slightly to protect them. Soon the brightness died down again, and when he un shielded his eyes, he saw the shadowed silhouette of something. Was it a... gingerbread person? They had the same type of body Adeleine had been transformed into, but they were taller and wearing some kind of dress or a robe, and on top of their head was a witch's hat.

Kirby squinted at the silhouette, trying to see if he could see anymore details, yet to no avail.

There you are.

Kirby jumped in surprise. He was not expecting the silhouette to respond, their voice sounding feminine, perhaps it was a woman? He noticed that she had put her hands on her hips.

About time you came back, I have been waiting so long for you to- Oh?

The mysterious Cookie took a step back, they were clearly not expecting Kirby.

"Hai!" Kirby waved.

Oh, my apologies. I thought you were someone else.

Kirby smiled "It's okay! Sorry I'm not who you thought I was!"

It's fine... I just thought she would be back now...

Kirby tilted his head. "Who is 'she'?"

Hm, never mind, it's not something for you to worry about. Regardless, you being here means you found the staff.

"Oh yeah, me and my friends were lost and we found this hidden little gardeny glade where we found the it." Kirby explained "I kinda just took it, sorry."

I see...

"So are you the owner of the staff then? Or is it a wand?"

It's a wand that one can convert into a staff using magic. Though without the use of said magic, I suppose it's stuck as a staff for now. And yes, I am the owner of the staff.

The figure went silent for a moment, but then spoke up again.

Who are you?

"My name's Kirby!" Kirby introduced himself "Kirby of the Stars! Nice to meet you! What's your name?"

It is very nice to meet you too Kirby. As mentioned, I am the owner of the staff, you may call me...

The Cookie hesitated, her silhouette looking like it was contemplating something. Could she not remember her name?

Spelltwister Cookie, you may call me Spelltwister Cookie.

"Nice to meet you Spelltwister Cookie!" Kirby innocently waved "Are you a magician?"

Heh, in a way, I did cast a lot of spells in the past. I suppose you were able to guess this because of my outfit?

"Umm, kinda. Truth is I can't really make you out entirely." Kirby admitted.
