Chapter 22: Cheats and Cheers
Magolor escorted his little group over to the Shoppe, so he could settle the bet results. Thanks to the outcome of the race, he already knew the results and was very pleased. While a few Cookies did place bets on Kirby, meaning that they won on that bet, he was fine with that, as it was only a few customers, and he'd only have to give up a few Gem Apples.
"Alright then, is everyone present?" Magolor asked once he got himself situated behind the Shoppe's counter and brought out the coin bag that contained the betters coins.
The group confirmed that everyone was here, therefore Magolor could proceed with the results.
"Good! Now then, about seven of you bet on GingerBrave, while the remaining three of you bet on Kirby. (And no one bet on poor Dedede to win, oof.) To those three, congratulations! You won the bet, and not only do you get your coins back, you get your promised Gem Apple rewards! So let's see..."
Magolor grabbed a Gem Apple from the basket. "First one who made a bet on Kirby was... you! Clover Cookie, right?"
"That's me." Clover Cookie confirmed "I saw that everyone was mostly putting their faith on GingerBrave to win, so I decided to put some faith in one of the newcomers to this world, for a bit of luck."
"How kind of you. Anyway, not only do you get your coins back," Magolor fished out the 150 coins that Clover Cookie had given him for the bet "You also get a nice fresh Gem Apple! Congratulations!"
Receiving the returned coins and rewarded Gem Apple, Clover Cookie smiled. "Woah." he oohed "This beautiful object would be a wonderful subject for a new poem."
"Sure, if that's what you're into." said Magolor, grabbing another Gem Apple "Moving on, the next Cookie to bet on Kirby was... you! What was your name again?"
Magolor pointed at a Cookie with heart shaped eyes and very long and fluffy pink hair, who was holding a letter close to her chest. "Oh, i-it's Cotton Candy Cookie."
"Right, Cotton Candy Cookie. Guess you wanted to bet on a fellow pink Cookie huh?"
"Um, sort of. I just thought Kirby looked adorable."
"A fair reason." Magolor agreed "Either way, congrats! You not only get your 300 coins back, but you also get a Gem Apple! Here you go."
Cotton Candy Cookie took the coins and Gem Apple from Magolor and placed them in her pocket. "Oh my, thank you so much!"
"By the way, when you made your bet, you left this behind." Magolor held up a letter in an envelope with a heart stamp on it "Was this part of your bet? Or did you-"
"Wah! That's one of my important letters!" Cotton Candy Cookie's face flushed "Can I have that back?"
"Of course, here you go." Magolor handed her back her letter.
Upon being given her letter back, Cotton Candy Cookie used it, and the other one she had, to cover half her face to hide her blush. "T-thank you so much! That was so kind. Ooh, I'm going to have to write a letter just for you!"
Cotton Candy Cookie ran off, and everyone watched her go. Magolor looking slightly confused.
"Okay then... Anyway, the last one to place a bet on Kirby..."
"Yes, that was me." a strong looking Cookie with crimson hair, carrying a sword answered.
"Yes! You! Raspberry Cookie right?" Magolor asked.
Raspberry Cookie nodded. "Princess Cookie informed me on this, pink newcomer, and based on her story, he sounded quite skilled, so I decided to bet a few coins."
