Chapter 24: Campfire of Backstories

The rest of everyone's day after the race went pretty normally for a while. Kirby kept playing with GingerBrave, Cream Unicorn Cookie, and Elfilin, having a very fun time doing so. Dedede spent most of his downtime either sleeping or lounging about, due to the race taking a lot of energy out of him, but whenever Custard Cookie III brought over other residents of the kingdom who wanted to get to know him more, he didn't object.

Marx- after playing with Kirby's group for a bit- spent his time by introducing himself to other Cookies, but almost all of them seemed a little frightened by him, with the exception of Gumball Cookie, whom he helped make explosive graffiti artwork once he found out that was how he made art. After he had made some graffiti with him, he introduced him to Adeleine, thinking he'd like to meet a fellow artist, however Gumball Cookie's explosive and naughty personality seemed to be too much for her, so she wasn't too keen on interacting with him. She did find his artwork cool though. Later on Cherry Blossom Cookie and Cherry Cookie returned, having been unable to find Werewolf Cookie as well. Marx noticed they were both saddened by this, so he decided to spend the rest of the day cheering the two sisters up with jokes and cool tricks he could do. His efforts seemed to work as the two sisters were a lot happier after a few jokes.

Wanting to show her appreciation, Cherry Blossom Cookie held a short little tea party for Marx, Cherry Cookie attending as well.

"By the way, we ran into that Magolor fellow while we were out." Cherry Cookie mentioned, holding a teacup up for Marx since he didn't have any hands.

"Ooh did you?" Marx took a big sip of tea before Cherry Cookie took the teacup away "How'd that go?"

"He found us at Werewolf Cookie's hut and helped us investigate it." Cherry Blossom Cookie recalled, taking a sip of her own tea "It was a lot more messy than you had mentioned, but there was a lot of stray fur and weird smells like you said."

"His home isn't normally that messy? My bad, since you mentioned he was a werewolf I figured his home would regularly be a bit dirty. Sorry."

"It's fine." Cherry Cookie told Marx "Magolor was able to pick up some traces of magic like you said there were, since you mentioned you could smell it, but he told us it was too faint to properly tell what kind of magic it could have been."

Marx hummed. "You don't think some magic guy tried to break into his home, do you?"

Cherry Blossom took another sip of tea. "I hope not..."

In terms of other magic related matters, Adeleine was spending the remainder of the day trying to find books about magic or magical relics for the favor that Kirby asked her to do that morning. She did ask Wizard Cookie if he could tell her about magic, and he practically gave her a full on presentation about almost every magic related topic within this world, most of which she didn't memorize since it was a lot to learn in one sitting. Some of the knowledge Wizard Cookie shared did sound fascinating and she supposed it could be good to know, but none of it was quite what she was looking for. Biggest downside to that was that she couldn't ask a specific question that would allude to the staff, at risk of accidentally revealing it and Spelltwister Cookie.

Around sunset, Adeleine decided to put a pause on looking into magic related things, which was good for her since not only did it mean she could finally have a break from Wizard Cookie's ramblings, but also it meant she could draw for a bit. Grabbing her sketchbook, pencils, and colored pencils, Adeleine started searching for a spot in the kingdom where she could draw in peace. She almost found what appeared to be a suitable spot, which was a quiet little corner of the kingdom that had a comfortable looking bench and looked out to the kingdom's facilities, but just as she was about to take a seat, she heard GingerBrave shouting.
