"The future has a way of arriving unannounced." ~ George Will

Roman tested his patience as he had nothing else to do after Harley stopped talking to him. He was worried about what his siblings were doing, as he watched them for the rest of the extra time the warden had given them.

When he faced Harley's round face, it turned pale. It was as if she had seen a ghost, but he told himself that was rather ridiculous.

Why would a ghost or an alien even want to visit the slammer?

A better hypothesis of his was that she was worried about what would happen to all of them in the near future. The thought of going to space wasn't actually something to be proud of. Neither was being stuck in prison with hooligans. No matter what fate has in store for them, they'll always have each other.

Feeling sorry for her, Roman touched her face. In response, Harley looked at him curiously.

The future holds only surprises that we don't need to know, Harley.

On the other side of the table, Ronnie was tapping his fingers on the table. Looking at his brother's continuous movements caused convulsions in Roman's mind. Since he couldn't take the stress anymore, he roared out loud that those who heard his cry panicked.

He knew that his temper tantrums couldn't be controlled as it flared up again, thus, he took matters in his own hands and tried to do things his way.

Roman decided that they didn't need Smith's permission if Ronnie could meet the other members of the quad.

Instead of arguing with his sister, he took both Harley and Ronnie's hands and left without a word. He made a pouting face of disapproval if any of them talked because he was tired of all the whining and drama.

Therefore, the three siblings left the waiting room together without the warden's consent. Arm in arm, they huddled together like a human shield ready for the next attack.

Slowly turning the doorknob around, Smith was flabbergasted when someone else opened the opposite side at the same time. Not expecting such an outcome, Smith released his hand from the door handle and tumbled backwards. Catching himself before he met the floor by holding on to a spare table nearby, Smith faced the delinquents who entered the room.

Placing his hands up, Smith hoped one of the members of the trio would help him. With a smile, Roman pulled him up as he let go of his siblings' embrace. Jethro was pleased with the kind gesture and if he could give Roman any extra points on his prisoner status, he would.

"Thank you Mr. Grendel for helping me stand up. You have a kind heart. I'm surprised to see you and your siblings here as well. I was just about to get you three. Um, but you do know that visitors are not allowed in this section, but ..."

Harley intervened by cutting Smith off. Her rosy cheekbones were raised, the nose was flared and she crossed her arms together insinuating that she wasn't playing anymore games with him. The anger in her face said she meant business.

"But what? I want Ronnie here, Mr. Smith! Please don't ask him to leave!"

Embarrassed by his sister's actions, Roman's jaw remained ajar until Smith reacted to her comment.

"Before you interrupted me, Miss Grendel, I was going to say I would give Mr. Matson an exception, given the fact that he is related to you and Roman. But he will have to leave as soon as Mr. Anderson and Mr. Neiman come to pick up your contracts. I'm not as cold-hearted as I believe all of you think!" The warden grimaced.

Everyone inside the prison quarters froze as Smith mentioned this as they were surprised. Not only did the delinquents learn about the warden's evil wishes, but through reading their body languages, Smith did the same thing.

All eyes focused on the man with the handlebar mustache.

Smith was not dumb as they thought he would be as the warden knew the importance of body language and how it could help interpret a person's moods and emotions. Years of practice in taking over the facility made him wise.

Thus, he glared back at everyone and asked,"Why is everyone staring at me? Go on with what you were going to do. I'll leave you six alone."

And with that the warden stomped out of the room.

Bonnie twirled the ends of her blonde hair and sighed. She was getting bored, and the drama that just unfolded was the highlight of this event.

"Thought he'd never leave! To think the warden could force us to do anything!"

Looking at Ronnie for the first time, she introduced herself and her boyfriend.

"And who's this new dark haired boy, Roman? He's kind of cute." Bonnie smacked her lips.

A bit offended by her comments, Roman replied how Ronnie was his half brother who found him through the Family.net app.

"This is Ronnie, my younger brother from my birth mom's 2nd family. Smith located him in New York as Ronnie just passed the board and graduated from Law school."

Bonnie snickered at the mention of Law school. Moving toward him, she grinned.

"Rich boy then? You could have represented us then, Mr. Attorney."

Seeing how his girlfriend was flirting with Ronnie, Clyde intervened.

Ahem!

"Aren't you going to introduce me sweetie?"

Looking over her shoulder, Bonnie winked at Clyde as she could sense that he was jealous.

"Why of course, hun."

Pointing to her boyfriend, she motioned him to shake hands with Ronnie.

" And this is the love of my life, Clyde McCarthy."

As she grew impatient from waiting for her turn to introduce herself, Martina cut in Clyde's short conversation as she knew time was running out. Since her red hair dye ran out, the shades of brown returned to her tresses.

"Sorry Clyde, but I have to cut in as our time to introduce ourselves is getting short."

As a proper gentleman, Clyde obliged and let her have her way.

Putting out her hand to shake, Martina introduced herself, but to her surprise Ronnie hugged her.

"I'm finally glad to meet you! So you're the lady my sister has been talking about. Please take good care of Harley. I always wanted sisters."

Martina smiled and embraced him back.

Fifteen minutes later a knock on the outside door startled the juveniles, while Smith spoke through the wired entrance. He motioned them to come closer to the entrance, as he was whispering to them that the SPANA lawyers had arrived.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you all,but they're here. I can't let the attorneys see you Ronnie, or they'll report me to their head administrator. I'm afraid Mr. Matson you have to say your final goodbyes to your family and new found friends. Be brief and I'll let you out in a hallway where Mr. Anderson and Mr. Neiman can't see you. Now hurry!"

When the final hugs and kisses were done, Ronnie waved to the crew and followed the warden. At the same time the back door suddenly opened allowing the men in the black suits to enter.

Walking to his car, Ronnie looked up in the sky and saw two white doves flying above him. He was in awe as it was a rare sight. He didn't believe in superstitions but thought it was an omen as they seemed to be crying and a teardrop fell on his shoe.
