"Rejected."
"Eh? But you haven't finished reading the synopsis, Sens—"
"I don't need to finish it all to know that it's a bunch of bull, Sasa-sensei. Do this again or I will seriously reject your application in this company."
Sarina Samidori, pen name: 'Sasa Green', is an aspiring 26-year-old mangaka who has been applying to be an official writer in the Raito Calligraphy Publishing Company. This is one of the book companies in Japan which releases digital and physical books. They gather and accept writers from all over the country and get paid according to the demands of readers nationwide.
Of course, it is much better to produce and release physical copies. In the modern era where technology is more accepted and embraced by the bookworms and netizens, digital books sell more often. However, a published book in the market is a writer's ultimate objective. Much more, becoming a hundred or thousand seller.
Just like Sarina here.
Whose dream is to become a successful writer all over Japan.
"Sensei, will you please try to read it? I didn't get an ounce of sleep to finish it—"
"I already told you, no. If you insist, I will have you leave this instant."
Of course, reaching her dream is difficult. Most especially now that the competition are left and right. Standing out or standing above others is complex task. Much more creating something that will catch the attention of the desired audiences.
That's right. How will she capture the attention of the public if she cannot even catch the attention and palette of this woman right here?
Sumire Arima is one of the company's editors-in-chief, in-charge of proofreading suspense, mystery, and horror genres. Since Sarina, the young woman with straight black hair and green eyes; prefer writing mystery novels through manga, she needs to please this highly intelligent yet perfectionist 45-year-old woman, who has continuously been giving her chance for six months now. Yet, continues to reject her ideas for six months as well.
But of course, persistence is in Sarina's dictionary.
"Please, Sensei~"
"If you don't read the first chapter or even my synopsis, you will grow more wrinkles and your skin will dry up more." As the young writer said that, the editor batted her a worried look.
"What? Is my skin that dry?" Sumire immediately asks and quickly grabs her mirror.
"Yes. As dry as the Sahara Desert." The black-haired said exaggeratingly which made the older female to give her an evil look.
"You! Will you take me seriously and stop playing around, young lady?" Upon hearing that retort, the younger female held the other's hand and caressed it playfully.
"I am serious about you, Sensei. So serious that you're all I see~"
"So serious that the company is all I see~"
