It was Friday and the rain was pouring a bit hard. Despite the rain Grace still went out because Friday means she can finally let go. A time to relax and take her mind off of her work for a while. She decided to go to her favorite coffee shop just a 15-minute drive away from her condo.

The ride was slow as she carefully navigated through the roads and her Spotify playlist playing her favorite songs. She finally parked her car in front of the coffee shop and silently cursed herself for not bringing an umbrella when the rain was pouring harder. She contemplated whether she wait for it to subside or make a run for it. She sighed and prepared to make a run for it. She badly needed coffee and a slice of their sans rival.

She ran as fast as she could into the coffee and was thankful she was not soaked by the rain. The tiny bell chimed when she entered the cafe and she was surprised to see the place empty. It was usually full when she comes to visit so she ends up asking her coffee to go.

"Good afternoon, ma'am. Medyo naabutan po kayo ng ulan ngayon ah." The barista recognized Grace and she smiled at the barista.

"Kaya nga eh, pero ayos lang. Kailangan ko talaga ng kape niyo ngayon." She chuckled and the barista smiled knowingly. Grace was one of their regulars ang favorite customers to serve.

"Walang masyadong tao ngayon ah." Grace took notice of the empty cafewai.

"Malakas po kasi yung ulam, ma'am." The barista replied politely.

"Yung usual po ba ma'am? Cafe Latte at Sans Rival?" The barista added and Grace nodded.

"Aba, ganon na ba talaga ako kadalas dito. Saulong saulo mo na yung order ko ah." Grace joked.

"Syempre, ma'am. Isa po kayo sa paborito naming customer kaya libre na po yung second refill niyo." The barista said and Grace smiled before paying for her order.

"Iseserve na lang po namin, ma'am. Thank you." The barista said and Grace nodded before roaming her eyes around the cafe to find a booth to seat in. She saw the corner booth with a good view of the streets and the heavy pouring rain.

She was busy looking outside and getting lost in her thoughts so she didn't notice the door of the coffee shop open and the bell making a small chiming noise.

She was brought back to reality when the barista served her drinks.

"Ma'am, here are your orders po." The barista served her drink and pastry and she thanked him. The guy at the counter caught her eye and she thought that he looked familiar. The guy had salt and pepper hair so she immediately thought he must be her age. He was wearing a white polo tucked in slacks and black shoes.

"Sir, mabuti po nakabalik po kayo. Ang tagal niyo rin pong hindi nakabisita." She heard the barista told the man. It must be another regular customer, she thought. She switched her attention to the steaming coffee in from of her and the delicious looking sans rival.

She picked up her fork and started to eat the cake. She took a bite and immediately closed her eyes as she savored the cake. She let out a contented sigh. She really deserves this. She was about to take another bite when she noticed someone standing beside her booth. She looked up and saw the other customer. She was shocked to see her former opponent Mar Roxas standing beside her boot. That's why he looked familiar to her.

"I knew I saw a familiar face. Hello, senator grace" Mar said and smiled at Grace. Grace smiled back and shook Mar's hand.

"Secretary Mar kayo po pala iyan. Kaya sabi ko parang familiar. Would you like to join me?" Grace asked and immediately cursed herself for inviting him. This is going to be awkward for both of them knowing they did not have a pleasant past during the elections.
