Dennis Lawrence Chan was in the company of Millie Burtonburger, his long-standing confidant, whom he befriended through her elder sibling, Cooper Davies Burtonburger. Despite their close bond, Dennis recently disclosed his sexual orientation as a homosexual to Millie, and thus, they were not romantically involved. The duo was spending time at Millie's residence, where she cohabits with Coop and their lone parent, Burt Burtonburger. While engaged in conversation, Dennis observed Coop passing by.

Subsequently, Dennis was partaking in a meal at the residence of the Burtonburgers. While savoring a spoonful of vegetable soup, he observed Cooper Davies Burtonburger taking selfies of himself and uploading them onto Instagram.
"Son?" Burt interjected, "It is inappropriate to take selfies during mealtime." Coop directed his attention towards his father, Burt Burtonburger, and responded, "I apologize, I simply find myself to be quite attractive." Dennis felt a sense of discomfort as he blushed.

Following dinner, Dennis approached Millie and inquired, "Excuse me, Millie, may I inquire if it would be possible for me to lodge at your residence for the evening?" Millie responded by stating, "I shall consult with my father." She proceeded to approach her father, Burt Burtonburger, who was transporting laundry to the basement where the washing machine is located. "Father," Millie inquired, "would it be feasible for Dennis to stay with us tonight?" Burt Burtonburger responded with a smile, "Certainly." Dennis was elated upon hearing Burt's affirmative response.
