𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐋𝐘 𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑❜𝐒 𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃𝐄𝐑, Amaryllis peaked over to see what he was doing over the stove, yet seeing it was more shocking than she'd expected.
It had been years since Alejandro even went near a stove let alone started to cook on it, but now he was cooking a meal that he hadn't even asked for in the last years.
The man was cooking his family's famous Tamale with bacon-wrapped Jalapeño Poppers and Mexican Street Corn, something he'd always make for family dinner with their mother.
"Papi, why are you cooking?" Amaryllis asked softly as she rubbed his shoulder, her words causing the smile on her father's face to grow larger.
"Because today, 𝙡𝙪𝙯 𝙙𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙨 𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙨," He spoke as he glanced over at his daughter, his hands never stopping from turning the food in front of him. "is the day."
Hearing the way he spoke, Amaryllis couldn't help the look of pity on her face, there wasn't much that got her Father excited nowadays.
Let alone this excitement, if it wasn't for some kind of achievement she made or handled their family business, nothing could bring a smile to the man's face.
Other than her mother.
"What day, Papi," She continued to ask slowly growing more and more worried for her father's wellbeing, there was nothing special about today to her knowledge. "what's supposed to be happening?"
Almost immediately as she finished asking, the man finally put down the spoon in his hand as he fully turned towards his daughter.
"Today is the day your Mother returns," Alejandro Lexington spoke with a prideful smile on his face, he looked so hopeful and happy about his own words. "I can feel it."
With that the man went back to stirring the pot in front of him, his words immediately causing a sad look to come over Amaryllis's face.
There had been multiple times during the last few years that her Dad would suddenly grow hope that her mother would return, but time and time again he was disappointed.
And with every disappointment Amaryllis could physically see her Father deteriorating more and more, she didn't think he could withstand another heartbreak when her Mom didn't return.
