𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐉𝐀𝐇 𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐃, Amaryllis couldn't help but furrow her eyebrows at his statement given her previous assumption was that with a long immortal life came a strong mental state, it seemed she was wrong.
The young woman having thought that vampires had somewhat of a photographic memory no matter how impossible that was, given just how impossible vampires as beings were.
However her previous thought process was quickly severed by what Elijah had just openly told her.
"I didn't realize it was possible to forget," She spoke softly taking the time to gain a bit more understanding of the supernatural worlds, rather than just the basics from her mom's old books. "I guess if anyone lives long enough they tend to forget."
She attempted to reason aloud, with a soft nod of her head all to the amusement of Elijah, who'd long since noticed the clear-cut intelligence Amaryllis possessed as opposed to the rest of the people he'd met after coming in search of the doppelganger.
"What was the world like back then," Amaryllis asked having always had a curiosity about the past, no more so than the average person who'd gotten a chance to speak to someone who'd experienced it themselves. "if you don't mind-"
She continued not wanting to over step her bounds, the subconscious thought of knowing just how powerful Elijah was quickly blinking up in the back of her mind.
However despite her attempt at not crouching in on the vampire's past, Elijah only offered her a kind smile and a shake of his head, not exactly unfamiliar to others wanting to know about the past.
"Not at all," He spoke as he shook his head, having no problem with teaching Amaryllis of the past especially the beauty and intricacy of how it was living through even the harshest of times in the past. "if there's a time period, you're ever curious of I'd happily oblige the information."
With that the man softly glanced up at the ceiling, thinking on just where he'd like to start with the Mikaelson family history, the obsession he'd grown for Amaryllis overcoming his usual preference to keep his family history a close guarded secret.
"At the time it was comfortable," Elijah began to reminisce and remember, the memories of his human life still strong in his mind as they were a the main reason his family had fallen so far apart. "we lived by our own means, needing each other to survive against all the odds, werewolves being the brunt of them."
"Could they shift naturally back then," Amaryllis asked as she heard a break in Elijah's words, previously having learned that wolves only shifted on a full moon. "one of the books my mom left me never made the distinction on why wolves only turn with the moon?"
Hearing Amaryllis's words, Elijah silently noted that somewhat like witches, the young woman before him had been giving some type of tome with at least the basics of supernatural history.
However partially do to the influence of his family, a lot of supernatural history had been stricken or twisted to their benefits, unbeknownst to others who hadn't lived as long.
"No, even then the wolves had no control," Elijah softly answered with a shake of his head, his sentence only parting as a waiter came over with two glassess filled with nineteen-eighty two Chateau Lafite Rothschild Premier, a known favorite of Elijah's. "we'd built tunnels, charmed by witches to keep them out during the full moons, although there was a time were some didn't head the warning to stay hidden."
Listening to his words after she gave a soft smile and nod to the waiter, Amaryllis was more than enthusiastic to hear the story of how not only Elijah but how vampires came to be.
"Why?" She asked curiously, especially on the reason behind why others wouldn't stay within the confines of safety during a time where werewolves ran rapid through the woods.
However as she spoke out in curiosity, she couldn't help but notice the way Elijah's lips curled up in a soft one-sided smirk, seemingly finding amusement in detailing their story.
"Curiosity," Elijah spoke through his amusement, so clearly remembering the story of the last few days that were his human life, also the last few days for every member of his family. "it was two of my brother's actually, but to recount the story at this time would only sullen the mood."
Tilting her head once again as her expression took on a rather sad and soft look as she hadn't expected that the story would take a negative turn.
"No happy ending?" She asked softly as her head tilted, not wanting to pry but her now bubbling curiosity kept her from leaving the conversation especially as she'd only just began to get to the bottom of vampires' origin.
That being said she could only respect Elijah's boundaries which she attempted to since she didn't pry to far into the details, knowing there was a chance that the story could be gory rather than sad however she'd need Elijah to clarify before she tried to ask anything further.
Which the original planned to do, although only after he finished the sip of wine he'd just taken.
"Sadly to say, no," Elijah answered as he softly sat down his wine glass, the being attempted to lessen the emotions that brewed behind the memory of what happened to his brother, Henrik Mikaelson. "not only was it not happy, it was only the last moments for my youngest brother."
Quickly realizing the sensitivity of the situation, Amaryllis only naturally sat up straighter in her seat already knowing how rude it was to pry into such information, in the past having had others pry so far into the disappearance of her mother.
However she had just about as much information as every one else did on the occurrence, than being said her own personal tragedy didn't stop her from sympathizing with the man before her.
"Oh, sorry I pried-" Amaryllis began to apologize respectfully, whilst softly lowering her hand to her lap from softly sitting on the table neither of them having been brought menus only showed where to sit.
"No it's alright," Elijah spoke as he didn't want to cause Amaryllis to re-frame back into her shy persona, given he'd noted that she only became comfortable when the conversation's topic brought about her curiosity. "there's only so much you can witness in a millennium, before you become detach to the horrific's of it all."
Nodding her head as she understood why Elijah wouldn't want to tell her the intricate details of his first life especially given the possibly blood-curdling aspects as there had been plenty of horror stories she'd recently heard that involved the originals.
Nevertheless, as she fully processed the man's words, she was naturally able to pick out more so one particular piece of what the man said, which cause her eyebrows to obviously furrow.
"A millennium," She asked softly as that was what more specifically stuck on that specific part of Elijah's words, already having known that he'd be old just like any other vampire, yet she still wasn't expecting such a large gap. "so you're-?"
"My family and I were turned around a thousand years ago, give or take," Elijah furthered his previous statement, the smirk on his face broadening as that was the familiar reaction others gave when they found out just how long ago he'd lived. "the realities of which aren't as amazing as they seem."
