Fighting a dozen people would never be easy. Especially fighting a dozen, mind-controlled widows. The varied blows came at Natasha from every direction, until she managed to put some distance between herself and them and use her widow bites', knocking out a few but that didn't count on much, cause soon enough they had her surrounded once again.

And there was still Katya. Standing in the back, observing the events, judging if it was time for her to join already. Natasha neither wanted to nor planned to die that day. But if had to happen, she prayed it wouldn't be from her daughter's hand.

One of the Widows yanked Natasha up from the floor, and put her in a headlock, creating easier access to her for the rest, allowing them to throw punches and kicks. She couldn't see Katya anymore. They turned her the other way.

And then there was an explosion and cloud of red dust. The pressure on Romanoff's throat was gone, just like the violent focus on the Widows' faces, replaced by utter confusion. Yelena entered the room and helped Natasha up.

"You okay?" Belova asked. The redhead groaned and pointed at her shoulder. "Okay, this looks like it hurt. I'm gonna take it out on three, ready?" Natasha yelped when Yelena pulled the hook out.

"What do we do now?" one of the freed girls asked in Finnish.

"Get as far away from this place as possible. You get to make your own choices now." Romanoff informed and smiled, trying to reassure them but it didn't seem like it did much.

Her attention was caught by a movement in the back. Katya.

"No..." Natasha uttered.

Yelena followed her gaze and noticed the girl. "She does not look okay..."

The girl was coming closer. She pushed a Widow out of the way and send her tumbling to the floor like the girl taller than her by about a whole foot weighed nothing. An explosion shook the whole room.

"We gotta get out of here!" Yelena hurried.

"I can't leave her here." Natasha shook her head, taking a step back. "Katyusha please, I know you can hear me..." instead of reacting to her words, the girl swung at her. Romanoff managed to dodge but she knew it was just the beginning. A dark-skinned Widow tried approaching Katya from behind but she barely got to move her hand before she elbowed her, making her fold in half.

"What's wrong with her?" Yelena was clearly shocked. Even the version of the girl she saw outside the gas station didn't come anywhere close to how she looked now. "What do I do?"

"Go! Go find Dreykov!" Natasha instructed and groaned when Katya stopped her punch and twisted her wrist. She didn't want to hurt her. But it was starting to look like she had no choice.

Belova hesitated at first before running out, a bunch of Widows right behind her. Few of them stayed and it took Natasha a moment to realize that they wanted to help her. It was dangerous. Katya could easily heavily injure them all. But Natasha still had to find the ring and get the data. So she started to back out, putting as much distance between herself and the girl as she could. The widows were circling them, slowly coming closer, until finally they separated her and Katya.

By the time Romanoff located the ring, the girl managed to knock out the first two that stood between her and the mission objective. They were doing a good job occupying her but the clock was ticking so Natasha got to work, put a flash drive in, and started copying the information. After she set her nose back in place, an idea came to her. It used to work with James, so why wouldn't it work with her?

"Katyusha." she addressed the girl. "I know you're in there." the only reaction she got was a scream, of irritation maybe as she knocked another woman out. Only three were left, the rest unconscious. "It's me, it's Mama." Natasha's voice gained a pleading tone.
