******MELANIE*****

My eyes moved from one bed to the other.
Both Blossom and Hades were unconscious.
But Blossom was worse since it had been over four days since her still in some kind of a coma. Axle had said she was one of the servants of the Supreme god, the most powerful deity and the first. He had given me a brief history of how deities came to be.

In the beginning, there was nothing except yin and yang. These energies produced the first deities, one from the yin and the other from the yang for balance.

From the Yang, the Supreme god was created. And through him, he created the world, humans, and all kinds of animals.

From the Yin, the Great Dark god was born. She created the underworld through her miasma, and all its powerful demons.

But together, the two deities created the heavens as their dwelling place.
The underworld was the place where all the bad human souls would be sent to suffer before being reincarnated.

There was order and balance. The two coexisted for thousands of years at peace. But, one day, the Great Dark god created a race that rivaled the humans...the bloodthirsty creatures.
She wanted to also have a part in the human world the Supreme god had created as a way of stabilizing the scale since his human souls were also passing through her underworld.

This caused a rift between these two deities and they broke out in a deadly war. The Great Dark god destroyed half the heavens during the battle, before...vanishing.

At last, there was peace.

The Supreme god restored order in the heavens, and the third god was created.

Over millions of years, a total of thirteen deities had come into existence, with each being assigned a part of the order in the three realms by the Yin Yang forces.

All the deities had established their rule within no time and had shown their capabilities by handling their responsibilities. All except...me.

At this point, none of my four brothers had any idea where I'd be assigned to.

My endless thoughts were cut short when Hades' hand rose towards me.
"Mel?" He called out weakly.

I grabbed it desperately and sat beside him.
"Oh Hades, you scared me. I thought you would never wake up and it'd be all my fault for making you come see me in this-"

"Gawd! You still talk too much even when I was in the blink of death."

He coughed, and my mind jerked awake.
I grabbed one of the two glasses of water and moved closer to help him drink it.
This was not ordinary water no. Castor had brought it from the heavens to help these divine messengers recover faster.

He had offered me some to drink but when I tasted it, my throat was itchy for almost a minute and made me feel like I had been attacked by a fever.

I placed my back on the headboard and rested Hades' head on my chest. He seemed too weak to even hold the glass.

"What is this?" He asked frowning at the heavenly water.

"Um...something to um...make you feel stronger," I answered. "Come on, drink it." He hesitated, leaving me with only one other option.

I took a big sip of the liquid, then lowered my mouth on Hades and forced it down his throat. His hand flew to slide to the back of my head before he gulped it down unwillingly.

I chuckled on his lips opening my eyes.

Hades was scowling up at me annoyed.

"You little-"

"I'm your creator. You'll do as I say." I slapped authority in his face and pulled back. "Will you drink this or do I need to repeat what I've just done?"

Hades stared back defiantly. "Make me." He breathed a challenge.

"Oh, I will." I shot back at him boldly then took another big sip.

Just like before, I forced it into his mouth. This went on till the entire water was now in his body.

"You're such a good boy." I teased caressing his head now lying still on my chest. "That wasn't hard was it?"

"I didn't drink it at my own will."

My fingers slid in his hair and combed down till I couldn't anymore due to his long it was.

"Do you want a haircut by the way?"

"No!" Hades barked with a tinge of irritation.

"Want to dye it?"

He suddenly peeled his head off of my chest and sat up on his own. "What I need is some food. Can you, go get me some?"

"Oh! Okay."

I hurriedly slipped out of the bed, taking the empty glass with me.
When I was exiting the room, I glanced back and caught Hades struggling to stand by himself. He ended up letting the wall support him.

I wanted to dash back and help him, but he dismissed me. "Stop wasting time and get me food."

"Sorry."
I shut the door and ran down the hallway and the stairs.

********HADES*******

That little clueless troll had fed me ambrosia, the heavenly water that came from the Yang tree. It was conflicting with the Yin energy flowing through my body.

After spending thousands of years in the underworld, my Yang energy had been turned to Yin by the strong miasma that hung in the air.
All this was thanks to the Great Dark god that vanished instead of taking responsibility for the world she created.
While the miasma did nourish the demons residing in hell, it was torture for the deities.

And when I was sent to take over the underworld, I knew that it'd have an impact on me.

I quickly threw up all the ambrosia water in the marble sink. There were traces of my golden black blood in the puke. The water had corroded my insides like acid.
And now I was depleted of energy.

Melanie.
She was the only being around me that could replenish my lost energy.

Damn! Sealing my godly powers did a number on my body for sure. Not forgetting the hit I had received in her room.

Using the wall once more, I made my way back into the dull room. It was probably eleven in the morning, yet the curtains had been opened only a crack.

I pushed myself to the window and drew them completely open.

Bright light flooded the entire room, chasing away the gloominess that was hanging in the air.

When I turned around, I recognized the female lying on the other bed. Her name was something like Berry? Fruit?
Argh, but it was in the line of plants.

From her body, I felt a familiar energy, a crowded miasma clogging her chest.
How had the Supreme god's servant ended up with such energy in her body?

Not many things piqued my interest, but this occurrence, certainly made me force my weak body over to her bed.
I plonked my butt on the empty space beside her knee and then placed a hand on her chest.

Her heartbeats were faint due to the conflicting energies. She had about a day or so before the miasma destroyed her entire body. She was going to explode like a balloon with too much water in it.

It would be a good thing if she was dead.
I didn't care about her, or anyone else for that matter. But I retracted that thought when I felt Mel's energy in the miasma.

Like an awakening, I finally pieced together everything.

The only reason I had managed to process her energy into my body without being harmed was because it was the raw form of...miasma.

If this was truly the case, then according to the Yin law, she would automatically be my...apprentice.
