chapter 20

KINN POV:-

I prepared food
I rarely cooked, why waste my time doing something that I didn't enjoy and which I could pay other people to do? But I made an exception today. I was waiting for a visitor and I don't want to miss them by eating out
The doorbell rang
Damn. Earlier then I'd expected, which meant he was eager
I shut off the stove and sipped my tea as I answered the door when I did, I had to mask my surprise
Not who I was expecting
"What are you doing here, sunshine?"
Not the warmest greeting but he needed to leave before he arrived
Bible frowned, he looked exhausted.
Worry and guilt washed over me, we hadn't spoken in days, he was still angry with me and I was caught up with my plans
"We need I talk, about us" bible said
Not the words anyone would want to hear come out of their boyfriend's mouth
"Can we talk later?" I said as a familiar Mercedes came into view, and my muscles tensed
"Now isn't a good time"
Bible shook his head
"It's been a week, and I'm tired of us tiptoeing around each other, you've been acting weird, if you don't want to be with me any longer-"
He exhaled a harp deep breaths
"Just tell me, don't string me along"
Goddamn it.
"Ofcourse I want to be with you-"
"Kinn" my uncle's pleasant tone belied the fury simmering in his eyes, when bible turned, startled. He smoothed his face into a gracious smile
"Who's this lovely creature"
My uncle said
"Bible, uncle Ivan" I responded
"Ah,the infamous bible, how lovely to meet you"
He smiled, looking uncomfortable
"I didn't realized that you were expecting a company today" bible told me  "uhm you are right, we can talk later"
"Nonsense, I'm just here for a friendly chit chat with my nephew"
Ivan placed a hand on bible's back and guided him into the house
I couldn't lose my cool, not now.
We settled in the living room, bible and I on one side while Ivan on other
Tension laced the air
"Anyone want a drink?"
Bible shook his head "no, thanks"
"Green tea for me" Ivan said, I went to the kitchen to prepare his green tea and I returned in few minutes and found him in deep conversation with bible
I placed his green tea on the table and sat beside bible
"What can I do for you, uncle?"
"I'm just here to congratulate my nephew" Ivan's smile tightened
"Bible,dear, do you know that you're sitting next to the new CEO of theerapanyakul group?"
I betrayed no emotions as bible looked at me, his eyes wide
"My uncle graciously stepped aside"  I said as I addressed Ivan
"Congratulations, that's amazing"
Bible looked genuinely happy for me, but also he sounded confused and a little hurt, probably because I didn't mentioned something so huge to him
"You and bible should visit me someday, I'm an old man who doesn't have any friends and don't like to go out much"
"Uhm sure" bible glanced at me "we'll visit someday"
Yes, over my dead body, actually, Ivan's dead body
"Excellent, well I think I overstayed my welcome, I'll leave you kids alone"
After he left, me and bible sat in silence, I wanted to pull him to me and reassure him but everything has gotten so fucking complicated.
"Your uncle is not what I expected" he finally said "he's very slick"
That pulled a small smile out of me, he didn't liked him either
"Why didn't you tell me about your promotion?" He asked
"That's a huge news!"
"It wasn't official until yesterday"
"Oh.."
Bible sighed softly
"Kinn..I miss you"
God,this guy. He has no idea what he's doing to me
"I miss you too, sunshine"
I opened my arms and he climbed on my lap, wrapping his arms around my neck, I breathed in his scent, my heart aching, I wanted to keep him safe and cherished, forever, fuck the rest of the world, it could burn for all I cared.
