"Hayley, you can't go swimming. You're in a cast!" Brendon persisted. Hayley stuck out her tongue and stomped away jokingly.

"You haven't changed a bit since you were little!" Brendon laughed. I rolled my eyes and scrolled through my Twitter timeline. The usual boring hipster tweets were littering the home page but something caught my eye.

"@Mynameisanne: Just received the best news of my life..."

I furrowed my brow and tried to think of what could have happened. I opened my dms and decided to ask her what was going on.

"@thisisryanross: Hey Anne, what was the news?"

"@Mynameisanne: Matilda is cancer free"

I gasped in excitement and jumped up from the couch.

"What's wrong??" Brendon rushed to my side. I stuck out my phone so he could see the screen. He squealed in joy and jumped up and down.

"Hayley!! Matilda is cancer free!!" Brendon happily exclaimed. Hayley gasped and grinned from ear to ear.

"We should go visit her! I'll dm Anne and ask," I quickly typed out a message asking if we could come over.

"@Mynameisanne: actually we aren't home rn. We're at the hospital checking Matilda out of her room and then we're going to dinner. You guys should come over tomorrow!"

"@thisisryanross: okay! Maybe around three-ish?"

"@Mynameisanne: sounds good!"

"@thisisryanross: wait, don't you guys have school?"

"@Mynameisanne: Mom and Dad let Matilda take a few days off for her health and me for other reasons"

"@thisisryanross: other reasons?"

"@Mynameisanne: we'll talk tomorrow"

"@thisisryanross: okay. Bye!"

I felt a bit confused but I decided not to ponder on it for too long. "She said we can come over tomorrow around three."

"Cool! Oh I just remembered, I need to talk to you alone for a second Ryan," Brendon beckoned for me to follow him into the hallway.

"Hey so, now that we're engaged and we'll be married soon I was just wondering something. Would you like to move in with me?" Brendon nervously bit his lip.

Does this mean he wants to... no! Stop thinking like this you sicko! But still, we could...

"Yes!" I blurted out. Brendon looked relieved and he smiled widely.

"Oh, I'm so happy Ryan!" He squealed. I got a flashback to when we were teenagers and he would get excited over simple things. The same brown puppy dog eyes, smile that lit up a room.

I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

"But you need to help me move my stuff in," I made sure that he would help me. Brendon laughed.

"Of course I will silly!" He giggled and grabbed my hand, leading me back to the living room.

"Why do you two look so happy?" Hayley cocked her eyebrow.

"No reason," Brendon said in a sing song voice, swinging our hands back and forth.

"Well I'm gonna get going, Chad said he was making dinner for the two of us tonight," Hayley picked up her purse from the chair.

"Okay! Love you, drive safe," Brendon gave her a quick hug. I waved as she walked out the door.

"So, whaddya wanna do?" I asked. Brendon thought for a moment then seemed to have a bright idea.

"Let's watch Free!" He exclaimed.

What?

"Free? What?" I questioned.

"It's an anime!" Brendon explained excitedly.

Is this some sort of weird fetish?

"Is it like yaoi or something?" I asked uncomfortably.

Brendon burst out laughing at me. "Uh, no. I mean there's a hint of homosexuality but it's a sports anime so it's expected."

Hmm, doesn't sound too bad then. Wait, sports?

"What is it about?" I asked.

"Well there are these friends who like to swim but stuff happens."

"Wow, very descriptive!" I remarked sarcastically.

10 hours later

I blinked my eyes and stared at the screen in amazement. We had just watched the whole series in one sitting. I had gone through a range of emotions from sad to uncontrollably happy.

"So, did you like it?" Brendon asked.

"I- I- I loved it!" I finally looked away from the screen. I just then realized that it was dark outside and I hadn't eaten dinner yet.

"Oh my gosh, it's 10 pm! We need to eat!" I suddenly got very worried. I wasn't used to being so absorbed into something for so long.

"Okay, let's get takeout," Brendon picked up his phone.

"Can we get Japanese? We can have saba* and ramen and pocky and-" Brendon cut me off.

"Okay I know I've turned you into a weaboo but we need real food. Chinese?" He called me something that I wasn't sure what is meant.

"Okay sure. I'll have shrimp stir fry. What's a weaboo?"

"Uhm, hold on," Brendon was busy googling the phone number for the Chinese restaurant.

I got up to go to the bathroom while Brendon was ordering our food.

As I washed my hands I looked into the mirror and noticed how different I was from my beloved anime characters.

"Why can't I look like Haru-chan? Or Makoto- Senpai?" I thought out loud.

"Hey Weeb, get outta there. You need some fresh air!" Brendon shouted from the hallway.

What is all this "weaboo" and "weeb" stuff?

I finished drying my hands and walked out of the bathroom.

"C'mon, we need to get outside. Let's sit on the porch!" Brendon grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the door. We walked outside into the warm California air and thumped down on the front of the porch with our feet dangling off.

"You know, I really enjoyed today. Even though we weren't very productive, we had a happy lazy day together. It's good to have those once in a while!"

I nodded in agreement with Brendon.

Finally, I'm repairing my life.

*Saba is mackerel in Japanese. It's kind of a reference to Free! I didn't just throw a random fish in there.

Hey sorry this chapter is kinda short. I was having writers block so I thought, why not throw in some anime? Ryan is a total weaboo in this chapter, much like myself. Anyway, tomorrow is Father's Day! Happy Father's Day to all of you. I'm fairly certain none of you are fathers but wish your Father a Happy Father's Day for me. Actually, I'll be putting this up after Father's Day. Eh, oh well! I love all of you and I hope you're having a great summer vacation, if you are on summer vacation. Bye!
