Chapter 3 - Attempting a Kill Quest

It has been a couple of days, could feel like an eternity for Kieran Williams as most of the jobs he took as Phantom was mostly daily labour for the town. It was incredibly boring to Kieran as he spent more time getting to know Kazuma and Aqua, though the two seemed more enthusiastic than he was during the time. However recently, they've decided to actually get a Quest that could actually give them the experience that they really needed.

They're Quest was to apparently kill 5 Giant Toads. It did sound strange, but from what he and the others could gather, they are apparently rather obnoxious. During their mating seasons, they would tend to travel to other people's farms to eat their goats whole as it would provide the proteins necessary to keep their strength up to evidently lay their eggs. Yet during those times, it is apparently common that other farmers and children would go missing as well, which would've sent shivers down Kieran's spine if he was still an ordinary guy. The thing about the Quest was that they had to complete it in 3 days.

Though at the moment, we can see an open grassy plain as Phantom was watching from a distance with her arms crossed while Aqua was laughing hysterically at Kazuma who was being chased around by a Giant Toad. 

Aqua: "This is hysterical! You should see the look on your face Kazuma! You look so desperate!"

It was clear from this distance that Kazuma wasn't really in the best of moods as he was relatively pissed off with Aqua mocking him. Though Phantom couldn't help but ask Aqua a question.

Phantom: "Do you honestly think it would be easy to kill one of these things when we have no experience?"

Aqua: "Oh please~ I can imagine killing these things. Hey Kazuma! If you really really want me to save you, all you have to do is call me Lady Aqua!"

She was calling out to Kazuma while Phantom could sense a bit of a smug presence coming off of her, making her narrow her eyes.

Kazuma: "Lady Aqua!"

Aqua: "That was way too easy. Okay you shut-in neat, starting tomorrow you will have to worship me and agree to something!"

Yet while Aqua was not paying attention, Phantom could notice the Giant Toad stop and look at their direction, making Kazuma stop in his tracks as well. Aqua was constantly saying things that Kazuma would have to do, but during this, Phantom simply made sure to back away as soon enough, Aqua didn't really notice the Giant Toad on top of her as in comedic fashion, she was then being eaten by it.

Kazuma came running as he was panicking.

Kazuma: "Don't get eaten!"

Soon enough, Kazuma was able to kill the Giant Toad while getting Aqua out, though she was covered in its slime, which made Phantom a little disgusted, but she approached anyways. Aqua was crying as she couldn't really stomach the experience of what mainly happened. 

Kazuma: "It's a good thing it decided to sit still while it was eating you..."

He was clearly out of breath as he did spend a while trying to get her out after all. 

Aqua: "Thank you Kazuma. You saved me.. Thank you!"

Aqua was breaking down as she was slowly crawling up him, trying to thank him properly while being a sobbing mess. 

Kazuma: "Come on let's just call it a day. It's obvious these things are way more than we can handle. We can always try again after we get some better gear."

Aqua managed to properly get back to her feet, though she wasn't willing to just give up.

Aqua: "I can't go back looking like this... If my followers saw me in this disgusting slimy state, they'd lose their fate in me. Word would spread that some lowly frog bested me and my reputation of me being a Goddess would be ruined!"
