Ivey was heading back to New York in an hour, so Theo and I drove her to O'Hare International Airport.

"Call me when you get off the flight, okay? And again when you get home. You never know what might happen to you in between."

She laughs and hugs me, "Yes ma'am, I'll call you all 20 times. Before I go, I needed to ask you something..."

I pull away from her so that I can see her face and she smiles at me, saying, "Will you be my Maid of Honor?"

My jaw drops for a moment before I jump in excitement, "For real? What about Jasmine? Isn't she your best friend?"

"She is, but she's not my sister, you are, and I wouldn't want it any other way. So, what do you say?"

"Of course! I'll be the best Maid of Honor you could have asked for."

I hug her tightly and she pretends that she's gasping for air.

"I get it, you're happy. Now let go."

"Sorry, I just can't believe you're old and getting married and it feels like yesterday we were playing games in the backyard."

"Yeah, it does, doesn't it? I can't believe you're in college. Sometimes I wish that time would stand still so I can remember these moments fully."

I nod, knowing exactly what she meant.

"Theo, you sir are invited as well, and I just know Kalani will be excited to know that she made flower girl."

Kalani is Theo's little sister and basically ours. She's 6 years old and is so cute.

"Cool, thanks for the invite. I'll see if I can fit you on my schedule."

He answered and Ivey nudges him.

"Whatever, I know you'll go as long as Isa is there. Seems like I got a flight to catch."

The announcer says Ivey's flight number and she tugs her carry-on close to her.

She hugs both of us, saying goodbye before proceeding to the plane.

"How comes you didn't invite your family for Family Weekend? I would have loved to see Kalani."

I question Theo as we make our way back home.

"Oh, I did ask them but she had a choir performance that would interfere with them coming, you'll see them Thanksgiving though."

"That feels so far away."

"We're in the middle of October, it's 5 weeks away. I think you'll survive."

I groan, sitting crisscross in the seat.

"But I miss my little sister", I whine, and he laughs.

"First of all, she's my sister and second, you could just take a trip and see her or call the house when she's home. If it makes you feel better, she told me she misses you too."

He parks his car and I unbuckle my seatbelt, getting out.

"I will call her. I can't have her thinking I forgot about her out here in college."

When I clock into work today, I see a note from Mr. Williams that he wouldn't be in today but for Dean and me to organize paperwork and take care of any customers.

"Good afternoon Isabella."

"Hey Dean, what are you up to?"

I ask, setting my bag down.
