"How are the caramel apples coming along?"

Tolkien's smile was genuine and his stance casual as he leaned on the kitchen doorway watching you dip the skewered apples and coat them with toppings.

Tolkien's annual Halloween Party was tomorrow night and everything had to be perfect. His parties were the talk of the town for months leading up. The DJs were the very best, and the food was plentiful, made by only the finest chefs.

His mansion was large enough to accommodate everyone in town in the foyer alone which, due to the size and fine details, required extra staff. And as Tolkien's live-in maid, you were also pitching in to help in any way you could.

"Very good, sir."

He laughs, "I've told you before, you don't have to call me sir."

"It seems more work-appropriate."

He folded his arms and raised his brow.

"Maybe I don't like you thinking of it as work."

"Well, you are taking up my Halloween night."

His smirk turned into an almost concerned look.

"Did you have a date?"

"No," You smile, catching him off guard."I'm just kidding."

"Ah, so a trick then?"

His shoulders relax and he walks up to you placing his hand on your arm. Even among the smell of warm caramel, you could discern his cologne. A dark spice that conveyed his expensive taste.

"Remind me to treat you later."

And with that, he walks away leaving you breathless. It wasn't uncommon to have exchanges like this with him. It kept things interesting and you found yourself thinking of him often, especially alone in your room.

Tolkien was incredibly rich and mingled with the most famous and affluent men and women. But even though there was a clear line that separated you from the well groomed and put-together 'old money' girls that surrounded him, Tolkien never made you feel lesser than.

...

After a long day's work decorating for the party tomorrow, you retire to your room. When you turn on the lights, you see two garment boxes on the bed with a note tucked into the ribbon.

Y/N,

I hope you enjoy your treat. I can't wait to see you tomorrow night in it.

Tolkien

You tear the ribbon off anxiously and dig through the tissue. Your jaw drops as you hold up the world's skimpiest maid outfit. It's made out of really high-quality material and was no Spirit Halloween costume for sure. You open the second box and find a pair of designer shoes to go with it.

You slip on the heels and hold it up to yourself in the floor length mirror. You looked so sophisticated you barely recognized yourself. Knowing Tolkien, it must have been outrageously expensive and you couldn't fathom what lingerie like this could cost or how he managed to find out your measurements.

Maid outfit. How ironic.

Tolkien

Y/N was busy this evening running around with the other housekeepers and hired decorators adding the finishing touches for the party.

When he was first hiring a maid he never expected to come across a girl like Y/N. She had the kind of unpolished attitude that old money girls lacked and a beauty that couldn't be bought. He never really knew what his 'type' was until he met her.
