The group watch as the twins' father executes an infected person using a sword. "Blades are so inefficient." Hirano mumbles. "You assume too much, Hirano." Saeko tells him. "Katanas chip on contact with bone! They're useless after cutting down three or four people. "One who practices the way of the sword knows it's demands. The skill of the wielder! The quality of the sword! And strength of mind!" Saeko explains. "Okay smart ass." Sumiko rolls her eyes watching her parents talk. "If these demands are met, a sword will not lose it's combative strength, no matter how many people it cuts down." Saeko tells her. Souichiro turned to look back at the group of teens and Sumiko waves at her father. "B-but when you get blood on it.." "It's like cooking." Saeko cuts off Hirano. "When a skilled chef uses a good knife, no excess meat will be left on the blade. That reasoning doesn't change, be it sword or people we're talking about." She goes on. "But... But..." Hirano stumbles on his words. "H...Hey Hirano. That's enough." Takashi says touching his shoulder. "Don't touch me!" Hirano shouts slapping Takashi's hand away shocking everyone. "Hirano! Behave yourself!" Saya reprimands him.
"Stay out of this, you can't even fire a gun right!" Hirano shouts running out the room holding his guns. "What's his problem?" Takashi seethes. "Be understanding. Hirano is also a man." Saeko reminds him. "I know that already." Takashi tells her with a sigh. "It's the part of you that's... nevermind." Saeko stops. "Two sides of the same coin I suppose." Saeko says walking out the room. Saya stares at Takashi and stomps out the room angrily. "What gives...?" Takashi asks and Sumiko shrugs walking out the room. Sumiko roams around aimlessly and eventually comes back to the hallway where Takashi was. "Takashi wait!" Sumiko runs down the stairs to catch up with the boy who was putting on his shoe. "Mister!" Alice shouts running up to Takashi just as Sumiko got to him. "Come with Alice, quick! You too big sister." Alice urges them grabbing their hands leading them out the house. "What happened?" Takashi asks. "It's Kohta! Kohta is in trouble!" Alice tells them. "Don't screw around! Hand them over!" They hear someone shout. "No!" Hirano shouts back.
When they get there they see two people harassing Hirano for his guns. "Hiran..." "What's all the commotion?!" A voice asks walking to the three men. "Ch-chief!" A guy stutters seeing Souichirou. "Th-this kid thinks guns are toys!" Another adds. "Young man, what is your name?" Souichirou asks towering over a frightened Hirano. "I'm Souichirou Takagi. Leader of the Devout Patriots' League." "K...K...K...Kohta Hirano, second-year in class B Fujimi High, seat 32." Hirano stutters out. "I sense spirit in your voice, Hirano! You must have gone through unspeakable pain to make it this far." Souichirou points out. "Honey, this child is..." "I've been briefed by the associated class." Souichirou cuts his wife off causing Sumiko to frown. "Oh my." Yuriko beams. "So, you refuse to relinquish your guns." Souichiro tells him. "I can't! I won't! If I lose my guns... I... I'll go back to how I used to be! It'll revert me back!" Hirano cries. "And I think I've finally found something I'm good at!" He adds. "And what's that?" Souichirou asks. "That would be protecting Saya and I!" Sumiko speaks up walking over to them with Takashi close behind. "T-Takagi. Komuro." Hirano stutters out looking at the two.
"Sumiko and Komuro. I remember your name. You've known Saya and Sumiko for a long time. You're dating my youngest now, aren't you?" Souichirou asks. "Yes, he is. Since hell's broken loose, Saya and I were mostly protected by Hirano and his guns." Sumiko tells her father who stays silent. "Kohta!" Alice shouts running to the boy holding onto him, glaring at Sumiko's dad and Rei and Miss Shizuka come over as well. "I've witnessed his bravery with my own eyes. Chief Takagi." Saeko interjects walking over with Saya. "Me too, dad!" Saya adds. "He's wicked short and a hopeless war fanatic, but if it weren't for him Sumi and I would be like our other classmates right now, dad! He looked out for us!" Saya informs her dad.
