I think i forgot to clarify, Roxanne and her family are not Native English speakers, i don't want them to have a specific ethnicity at the moment but i might change that in the next chapters, Vera (Roxanne's mom) was married to an American man , but that you will find out later in the book .

Roxanne pov

I called pete, i need to find money so i can pay Rey back .

*On the phone.* (speaking in Native language)

"hey pete , what's up?"
...
"Yeah same here."
....
"Yeah my mom is doing okay, i just ."
"I was wondering, you know, i mean..."
"You said you could find me a job... Does the offer still stand?"

"Really?"

"Thank you. Yes i will"

"Okay i will wait for your message!"

"Yeah got it !, thank you so much pete!"

End of call.

I head out of the bathroom, and go into my mom's room.

"Hey how are you feeling?"

I ask as i grab her hand .
She has tears in her eyes

"You can't understand how grateful i am , i love you so much Roxanne."

I hold her cheek and kiss ber forehead.

"I love you too mom"

"Everything is going to be okay, the doctors are going to take good care of you."

I reassured her .

"Its time"

A nurse comes in the room, they transfer my mom into another bed and i wave goodbye at her as the take her away for surgery. I stand there praying that everything will go okay.
After a minute Rey runs in the room ,i roll my eyes .

"You're late , shes already in surgery"
He facepalms

"The surgery was starting at 21:05, didn't you hear? Of course not, you don't know military time. I swear to god, fucking Americans man ."

I say in my native language. Almost shouting with my anger

I see the flowers hes holding and i relax a bit.

"Oh im sorry, i didn't realise traffic was that bad today."

He says and he takes off his hat .he has a genuine worry in his face. Is he worried about my mom?

"Will you give her these flowers from me?"

I was about to answer him but i feel a vibration in my pocket, i look down and i take my phone out.

My face lights up and i feel a weight fall off of my shoulders. I don't even look at rey and i just say

",just leave the flowers there"

I point to the chair. and headed out.

I catch a taxi and i drive to the hotel where me and my sister is staying at.

I have brought my boxing equipment with me, its in my bag.

I enter the room, my sister greets me and i get startled

"You scared me i didn't know you were here"

I say trying not to sound suspicious.
"Oh yeah i wanted to catch up to my studies."
