Illusions x logic || Lyney x OC (Xue)

Chapter 2 - the show

Xue PoV

The lights flickered as I got in the opera House, to watch the supposedly best magic show of Teyvat. That's what the locals told me when I went around asking where the hotel was and then the fliers.

I got a last row seat but it was still good enough to see the performance well. When I sat down the lights dimmed, and then the red curtains finally opened to reveal a boy?

He wore some kind of entertainment attire, he had a bow, a little cape on his shoulder,a bow tie,boots and a top hat to tie it all in, he was probably Lyney.

He then slightly bowed and opened his mouth to speak, his eyes closed.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Lyney and Lynette's magic show!"

“My name is Lyney and I'll be entertaining you today as you already know.”

He winked at the audience after his line, his eyes were lavender though they looked at the whole audience it was still hard to not stare at them almost as if you could drown in them, I felt the blood run to my cheeks slightly…what? I'm blushing?... No I shouldn't…I'm just being stupid…

He then twirled his hat on his finger like a basketball and then held it at an angle to show the audience how empty it was. With a fling the hat started floating in thin air a little further up from his head, the audience awed and wooed, I didn't though. I was aware that all magic tricks had a reason to be illusions.
When he snapped his fingers a whole bunch of cards started to fall almost like a waterfall and once they all fell to the floor a girl with a similar attire to him cat ears and the same eye colour appeared almost as if she had raised from the cards.

“Give it up for my sister and assistant, Lynette!” The magician said when his sister bowed to the audience as they clapped.

I didn't clap or woo, I simply smiled as I was glued to their eyes. They were so…mesmerizing…

“Now, you may all be aware that my sister and I possess a vision.” He said as they showed their visions.
“To show that we are not going to be using the elements for our show we'll be giving up our visions!” As he said two crew members came in to take their visions and once done they started their show.

Lyney scanned the audience but when his gaze landed on mine he almost…paused?...weird… his lavender eyes stared into my icy ones and we made eye contact for a few seconds before he smiled and continued his show.

There were times he'd stare at me and at some point even winked? I smiled as I thought he probably did it to everyone or someone else in the audience…yet my heart did accelerate, not too quickly but a little quicker than usual.

After a few of his tricks he decided to do a few more tricks and this time he disappeared. As the audience looked for him I crossed my legs over the other expecting him to appear at the front entrance or something. But soon I felt breathing next to my ear…

“Enjoying the show ma Chéri?” A voice spoke next to my ear, it startled me a little. Once I turned my eyes to the direction of the voice I was met with those deep lavender eyes I could drown in. Now that they were so close, my heart couldn't help but flatter quicker.

He smiled at me and then handed me a rose…

“I hope you are.” He smiled with his eyes closed this time and then after a few seconds he winked at me and ran down to the stage people finally noticing him.

I didn't take my gaze off him until he reached the stage, I looked at the rose and smelled it lightly…how fascinating…

I twirled the rose in my hand as I kept watching the show, they were definitely skilled. The show slowly escalated to more and more complicated tricks. My mind couldn't really comprehend the illusion behind it. But I did notice throughout it he kept staring at me…after giving me a rose he couldn't possibly be looking at me…right?

One of his tricks involved him getting in a box which would then be crushed if he didn't get out in time he would surely die? But then my mind thought logically again, if it was a set up he wouldn't be talking to his sister about losing the keys? Right? Just for the audience to hear, and his sister would surely stop the trick right? …

CRASH

Even though I knew it was an illusion I still sat up a bit on my sit from the crashed box now.

“Scared?” The same voice said next to the empty seat next to me. The whole audience turned their heads and immediately rawred seeing him alive sitting rather comfortably in that seat. His head on his hand he then turned his gaze to me before blinking at me and going back to the stage.

“That concludes it folks!” He and his sister bowed as the curtains dropped and they were no longer in sight. The lights raised and people clapped wildly like a handful of hyenas, I couldn't help but clap as well, not as strong as the others but still with a smile plastered on.

As people got out to leave I did as well, rose still in hand I couldn't help but think of him but I'd probably only ever see him for shows which I don't know if I'll be in fontaine for. A breath escaped my mouth which I didn't know I held and off I went back to the hotel.

When I was just leaving and on the last step of the stairs I heard someone jogging towards me. I turned around and I saw…him.

“Hey! Wait up!” He called out getting closer to me, I looked around to see if he was referring to someone else. “Yes you ma cherí.” he said now standing behind me. I turned my body to face him now. I wanted to ask what he needed but my lips were glued shut from just looking at his eyes…

“I'm Lyney and you are?” He asked, putting his hands behind his back like a gentleman would. “Oh, I'm Xue, pleasure to meet you.”

Once he heard my name he bowed slightly, taking my hand and kissing it like a true gentleman. “Xue is such a beautiful name. It suits you well.” I couldn't help but blush at his gesture. He stood straight again. “Enjoyed the show ma cherí?” he asked, his lavender eyes stabbing my blue ones. “Y-yes, it was wonderful.” Did I just stutter? I thought. “I'm glad! Would you like me to walk you home then miss?” He said. “Why thank you for offering but I'm sure you must be busy.” I said calmly.
