Chapter Forty-One
Is this the same shy, softie, Sahil?

× ANANYA ×

"Bro, yeh tera wala kitne looks de raha hai mujhe, aaise dekh raha hai jaise ek baar aakele mil gaya usse toh kisi aur se milne ke layak nahi bachunga" I heard Deven say when I was removing the heavy Jhumkhas from my ears.

[Your man is giving me so many looks. It looks like, if I ever went to meet him alone, I won't be able to meet anyone after that]

I love wearing Jhumkhas. Big, heavy, Jhumkhas. But at the same time, the way my ear is all red and swollen because of them is something I do not love. The real pain with pleasure sequence.

I left out a chuckle and responded with, "He can never. Please"

"Okay, Simp. But I told you, this jealousy track always works. Boy was so damn jealous that I was feeling guilty for doing this with him. Never mind, he deserves it." I narrowed my eyes at him from the mirror. He didn't even glance back at me but was busy unwrapping his chocolate.

"Now as per the bet, you are giving me Preet's number." He said and a grin plastered on his face.

From the day he arrived, he was hell-bent on thinking that the feelings were mutual and not just from my side to Sahil. For that, he threw this jealousy trap because as per him, it always works. In return for him helping me, I have to give him Preet's number and he is smart enough to handle the rest.

"She has a boyfriend, Deven" I reminded him.

"She broke up" I gasped and turned around in amusement how did he know this piece of information when he met Preet just yesterday.

"I'm not a stalker, Ananya," he said defensively when he noticed my reaction. "I had a conversation with her, she looked sad so I asked her the reason. And that is how I know."

"She is six years younger than you, Deven," I told him and took the makeup remover in a wipe and wiped the makeup from my face.

"What am I supposed to do with that?" He asked back.

"She is nineteen, right now. You are twenty-five. She is still just a kid in front of you"

"I can wait." He shrugged. God knows what this man sees in her and he is obsessed with her from the day he arrived. He is persistent in getting her number. "I'll wait for a few years and in your wedding I will make a move on her. Till then, just friends. How about this?"

My wedding? How did this come in between?

"Why will she be there at my wedding?" I asked him.

"She is the groom's sister. Why won't she be there?" I glared at him making a face. "Please, don't even give me that look. We both know that you two are the endgame. The sooner you accept that you are in love with him, the merrier it will be."

"It's not love, Deven," I said and rubbed a little on my eye because the Eyeliner, Eyeshadow, Mascara everything was just not going easily.

"And I am not human." I heard a noise and my eyes flew towards the door which was pushed open. Kirti entered humming a song with her headphones placed on her ear. As soon as she noticed us, she glanced between me and Deven.
