When Della drove out of the gate, I took out my binoculars. Soon the headlights of her car were no longer visible at all. It was necessary to act very quickly. I went to get fuel and water. I knew where Della was going. She won't find her way to El Bazaar in the dark. Most likely, she'll pick up Dean and go to that stupid house that got in our way when we left the ranch with her crazy sister.

I was ready to go in 10 minutes.

"Troy, are you going far?"  Adam, who was standing guard, asked me when I asked to open the gate.

"No. But tell Jake he's in charge until I get back."

Adam nodded and opened the gate.

After leaving, I headed to my destination. I was supposed to arrive much later than them, but in case she still decides to get to El Bazaar, I decided to hurry up so as not to lose them completely. Although I was sure they would be in that house.

A couple of hours later I drove up to the house. Stopping about 50 meters behind the rocks, I looked through binoculars. I couldn't be seen from the house, but the house itself was perfectly visible. Della's car was already parked right next to him. I had to wait a little longer so that she and Dean would surely fall asleep. I leaned back in the driver's seat and immersed myself in my thoughts... How did I get to this? Am I really a psychopath? But I always want only the best. I know what's best for her. I'll prove to her that I love her.

Thinking about what to do, I did not notice how I dozed off.

When I woke up, I looked at my watch: it was almost 3 a.m. Great.

I got out of the car and headed for the house. Quietly going in there, I saw Dean sleeping on the couch. He was there alone. So Della lay down on the bed in the room. She's not with him. "Not all is lost," flashed through my mind. I put my hand over Dean's mouth and woke him up.

"Quiet. Don't shout, otherwise you'll regret it," I flashed the knife, showing that I was serious, "silently get up and follow me, understand?" Dean nodded. There was fear in his eyes.

"Do you have car keys?"

Dean nodded again and took the keys from the table. It was stupid of Della to leave them. How trusting she is...

We went outside. I still haven't put the knife away. The guy squeezed his eyes shut. I grinned.

"Open it, but not with a button, but with a key. No sounds."

He obeyed and opened the driver's door.

"Now sit down."

Dean sat down.

"Go wherever you want, but not to the ranch and not to El Bazar. If I see you there, I'll kill you. There won't be another chance."

"And the supplies?"

"Keep it for yourself."

"Wait... I understand what you've come up with. I'm not leaving! Della will think that I left her and..."

"And you will live, Dean. She won't forgive me if I kill you. Although, to be honest, I really want it. I can barely cope with my desire. But I'm not a savage."

"But..."

"Don't argue. You have a car full of supplies and gasoline. No one has ever been so lucky in the new world."

"I'm not..."

"Don't be a fool! Go away! Look, the fact that Della will think badly of you is a low price to pay for saving your life. Besides, I'm going to make it look like you just left anyway. I'll kill you if you refuse, and then I'll drive the car away and everything will look exactly the same. Only you will die."

Dean thought about it.

"You don't have time to think," I put the knife to his throat again, "go away, I can't wait any longer."

Dean nodded, started the car and drove away. As soon as he was out of sight, I ran to my hiding place. Now it remained to wait for morning. Della will wake up completely alone. Far from the ranch and without supplies. With the realization that the one for whom she left, abandoned her without a chance of survival. And that's where I'll show up...
