Chapter 13

It was Sunday. Four days after Strawberry blacked on Creanna---Four days after Santana left the hospital after getting shot five times---four days after Creanna and Casper hung out at the park---and four days after he gave her ten thousand dollars. All only four days ago. A day that didn't even feel like it had happened.

Creanna, Lucinda her older sister, Lucinda's husband Roger, their two sons King and Emon, and Creanna and Lucinda's mother Edna sat at the table ready to eat dinner. Lucinda and Edna were becoming impatient waiting on Strawberry to come. Instead of coming back from the church with them, Strawberry chose to ride in a separate church van from the rest of the family which was obviously taking a long time because she hadn't arrived at the house yet.

While everyone at the table sat and waited, Creanna was lost in her own thoughts.

Creanna remembered everything, especially getting the ten grand that day. Never had she held so much money in her hands at once. When she got home the first thing she did was split the money with Santana, giving him five thousand for his self. The fake ten thousand dollar hospital bill Creanna solicited from Casper for Santana, only happened to cost one thousand. Creanna didn't want Santana to have to use most of his money paying his medical payment out of his share of the money; so she put up five hundred and he put up five hundred, equalling one thousand to pay off the surgical bill. Leaving them both with four thousand dollars each.

Creanna paid off what she could on her college school loans with two thousand, and one hundred fifteen dollars went in her back account leaving her with five hundred. Knowing public transportation was a big part of her getting around the place, Creanna was quick to put a hundred down on her Metro card leaving her with only four hundred dollars in spending money. Wow, how quick ten thousand dollars could just go. It was just in my hands. Creanna thought. I wonder what Sanny's gonna do with his four grand. He hadn't even spent it yet while her's was basically finished.

Lucinda who sat across from Creanna, stared at her sister who was in the clouds wondering what she was thinking about. She looked away from her for a second and at her two boys, "King and Emon go and play, I'll call you back to the table just now."

The two kids got up and happily ran off toward the back of the house.

Lucinda huffed and looked at her small gold $400 Cartier watch. She was a NYPD police officer so her paycheck was very steady, allowing her to splurge sometimes if she wanted. She wasn't rich but she lived comfortably.

Lucinda huffed, sucking her teeth as she looked at her sister. "What the hell? Where is this tropical fruit? We were suppose to start eating twenty minutes ago. I don't know why you invited her, this is ridiculous. She always has to be so extra. Why couldn't she just ride back with us? No puedo creer esta mierda..." She mumbled, bouncing her leg up and down.

Lucinda had always been good at Spanish and since the prescient she worked at in the city was White and predominantly Spanish people, she started speaking it like it was her first language. She even picked up on speaking English while using the heavy Spanish accent too. Her name only added on to making some people think she actually was Spanish.
