Your jaw dropped to the floor when you saw Elijah once again, your childhood friend. Both of your parents were good friends back then which brought closure between you and Elijah. He used to live across the street and you both played a lot when you were kids and you even went to the same high school together. You're inseparable, to say the least, but fate has other plans for you two and everything has changed ever since your friend moved out of the country to continue his studies abroad, his dad wanted to grow his business overseas so he doesn't have a choice but to leave you behind even if it was against his will. However, he promised that he'd be back once he was done with his education and have a successful career and here he was standing before you with a warm smile plastered on his face as he looked down at you.

Elijah changed a lot, he was taller than before, and his beautiful blue eyes made him even more attractive. He had olive skin, strong facial features, and was physically fit. You almost didn't recognize him for a moment, he was not the same fragile little boy anymore. It was a drastic change but you couldn't help but wonder if his personality changed as well or if he was still the same person that you once knew before and the only way to find out was through a deep conversation with him, as much as you wanted to talk to him you're a bit timid to do so but you must interact with him somehow.

He pulled out a chair for himself before sitting down across from you, removing his coat and folding it before putting it on his lap then his gaze remained fixated on you. He cleared his throat and spoke in a soft friendly tone, "Sorry to keep you waiting, how are you doing now Y/n? I must say you still look as beautiful as ever since I last saw you", he said calmly with a hint of seriousness in it as if he meant what he had just said. You immediately snapped back out of reality and responded, "Oh Thank you, I'm fine, how about you?". "I'm doing great, well I really missed you Y/n, how's life treating you lately? Are you still with your boyfriend Adrian?", he asked unexpectedly. "O-oh...about that..well err...well we're not together anymore", you said in a hushed voice and looked down as you remembered your traumatic experience. His facial expression shifted quickly into a worried one as you responded to his question, "I'm sorry to hear that, I didn't mean it, man I'm so stupid for asking that kind of question, well let's forget about it alright?", he said with concern in his voice and you nodded at him, even though he wanted to know the real reason behind your breakup he decided to keep it all to himself as he didn't want to make you uncomfortable and force you to say anything as if this situation couldn't get more awkward than it already is.

He thought for a while before he spoke again, "So what do you want to order Y/n? You can pick anything you want, it's my treat today", he smiled at you and waited for your reaction. You had a faint smile on your face as you replied to him, "Thanks that's very generous of you". He chuckled and handed you the other menu so you could pick out the food that you wanted to eat. After a while, he called out for the waiter and a man appeared in front of you, he had a notepad and pen in his hand, seemingly ready to take your orders. "I'll have this Shrimp Ceviche and Crab Cakes along with the Champagne Cocktail", Elijah said eagerly to the waiter before turning to look at you. "I-I'll have Steak au Poivre, Raspberry, and vanilla Macarons and a glass of wine as well". The waiter nodded as he wrote down your orders before he left to prepare them for the both of you.

You both exchanged glances at each other before Elijah started to speak again and it seems that he was always the first one to initiate a conversation between you two. "So...what are you up to these days? Anything good or perhaps exciting that has happened in your life so far?", he asked softly as he leaned a bit forward. "Well, I just got engaged a few weeks ago and I'm getting married soon", you said nonchalantly. "Oh is that so? Who's the lucky guy if you don't mind me asking", he raised an eyebrow as he waited for your response and he couldn't contain his curiosity anymore. "Damien Miller, he's my fiancé". "I see, what does he do for a living?", he was eager to listen to anything that you have to say. You then responded after a few seconds, "Well he's a businessman and he owns quite a lot of companies and runs different businesses both locally and internationally". "That's impressive, is he a good guy? Does he treat you right? Does he love and care for you?", he asked with a bit of worry in his voice. You barely know Damien at all even though you know it is wrong, you decide to lie to your friend "Yes he's a great guy actually, he treats me with respect and he cares and loves me deeply, don't worry", you said reassuringly. He sighed and looked at you again, "Just making sure, I don't want to see you getting hurt, your happiness and safety are my priority as your friend but I'm glad that he's not a douchebag", he laughed a bit before smiling at you.

Y/n and Elijah were immersed in conversation but were soon interrupted by the waiter who had just brought their food. You felt a sudden urge of hunger as you looked at the appetizing meal in front of you. You didn't waste your time and you started to dig in, Elijah watched you as you ate and he couldn't help but admire you as he started to eat as well, you're quite a sight and you both seemed to enjoy each other's company as the night progressed.

An hour passed and you found yourself getting more comfortable around your friend again and your phone buzzed with a notification once more, when you checked it, you were surprised to see a text from Damien and he's asking about your whereabouts. You got nervous and decided to call it a night, Elijah insisted on taking you home but you politely refused and told him to get some rest and thanked him for everything and you hoped that you'd get to spend time with your childhood friend once again, you both parted your ways and started to head back to the mansion.

It was a peaceful night and the stars twinkled in the sky, the cold breeze touching your skin made you feel more relaxed. The lamp-posts and lights from the establishments around illuminated the streets and there were only a few cars driving along the highway and some people walking their way home. The summer is coming to an end in a few weeks and the autumn season will soon start but you don't mind it, you just seem to enjoy the moment as if nothing else matters around you.

"It was a lovely chat and I didn't expect that our little reunion would end on a good note, I hope to see you again soon", you chuckled to yourself and continued to walk your way home.
