Alex is still staring at me. Since we arrived, she has been staring at me. Serra pretends not to notice and begins ordering her food.

Alex takes a glass of water and takes a sip, still staring at me. I hold her gaze.

When Serra's food arrives, she sighs, "Can't you guys drop the childish attitude?"

"For the record, I would have won. We will have a rematch, " Alex says, finally looking down at her menu.

"Please don't," Searra says, looking at me.

    I smile and order, too.

Searra tells Alex of how I 'kidnapped her'. She isn't gonna drop it.

Alex stares at me, "You broke my vase," she says.

   I blink. Right.

She looks at me as if she's expecting something.

"He won't. He's as arrogant as I say he is, " Searra says, handing the file to Alex.

Alex skims through her face flat.
"So now my best friend is now part of some sort of mafia. Does Uncle Shu know? " she asks.

Searra shakes her head, "Only you," and it'll remain that way.
She doesn't add it, but I can almost hear her say it.

"Do you sell humans, children?" Alex asks me straightforwardly.

   "Alex" Searra hisses.

    Alex doesn't back down.

I smile, "No." That's not all she wants, but that's all I give her.

Searra looks like she also wants to know.

I take my phone and text her,
If you were curious, you should have asked.

Her phone dings, she looks at it and eyes me.

I'm literally sitting in front of you.
She texts back.

I smile, yet you texted back.

"Did you two have sex?" Alex asks, breaking whatever is happening. "Good, I have your attention now," she smiles.

Searra scoffs. "It's rude to assume like that."  she gets up, "Excuse me," then heads to the bathroom.

Alex watches her walk away and then turns to me, all amusement gone.
"If you so much as hurt her, I'll kill you,"

The threat is so unexpected that I laugh.

"Good, I like you already," I say.

"Whatever game you are playing, she's been through enough" her voice drops.

   "Justin?" I ask.

"What, no. Gosh, I almost forgot that scumbag lived. "

"You never liked him?" I ask.

"I've never liked anyone who looked at her twice. "  she says.

My phone rings again. Ava. I put it on vibrate.

I look back at Alex, "As much as I admire your sentimentality,  I think Serra knows what she is doing."

Searra returns, and we continue as if nothing is wrong, but by the way Searra narrows her eyes at me, she suspects.

When we finish the dinner, I go to the park to bring the car.

Before Serra enters, I adjust the rear view mirror so that I can see her through it.
I see her attempt to open the back door and lock it. Reluctantly, she opens  the passenger door and sits.
