My tighs feel hot. My knees could buckle over any moment now.

"You fall you start again," Matthais says, hitting my leg with his rule.

I fix my leg and give him a look he ignores.

How did I get into this situation again. Right. My courage just decided to build up, and I ended up asking Darren to train me.

If I was going to be doing this. I didn't want to feel useless again.

And so here I am. At the east lock training room in a squat.

The timer goes off, but Matthais doesn't tell me it's enough. He keeps it going for some seconds before he finally tells me to stop.

I slump on the floor. That insufferable bastard. I'm sure he is enjoying this.

The fact that it wasn't Darren who was training somehow made me feel disappointed.

Ruby hasn't shown up again since she dropped me off.
They are always busy. It's been a week since the ball, and it seems everyone is on their toes as if expecting something to happen.

   "Again," Matthais says.

I whirl towards him, "You said that was the last one,"

"Can't handle a lie?," he gives me a look.

  The nerves.

By the time he finally walks away  literally leaving me in a stretch position, I'm too exhausted to even glare at him.

I drop down unto the mat and just lie there.

"Looks like it went well?" Darren says, coming up to me.

I grumble and watch his outstretched hand. Now, thinking of it, we haven't talked since that day.

No time to talk about what happened that day.

I take his hand and wince when he raises me up.
When it looks like he is going to carry me, i move away.

"Let's go," he says and begins to walk away, not reducing his step.

I try not to wince all the way to the car, and he doesn't even reduce his footsteps until he gets a call.

We get in the car without another word. It's a quiet drive. Too quiet, it becomes insufferable when no game interests me again. "Stop the car" I say.

He pulls up and begins drumming his fingers on the wheel.

"Did I do something?" I ask.

He looks at me from the rearview mirror.

   "What makes you think that"

"Well, you are awfully quiet of late"

"Work" he says as if that's answer enough.

I lick my lower lip, "Right"

"I could say the opposite about you. It seems you're noisy now"

I stare at him. I can't deal with this now.
"Just hurry and drop me off or I'm going to be late."

I shouldn't have said that. What is usually an hour drive became two.

     I force a smile, "Thanks"

When I make to open the door, he locks it.

"What are you doing at a restaurant, a date?"
"I would have looked towards that"  I jeer but he doesn't relent.

  "I work there"
