He's not back yet. Matthais came back earlier, and that insufferable bastard just shrugged when I asked him where Darren was.

"It's getting late. Let me take you home," Ruby says, entering the room.

"Did you try his number again?"

"I found his phone," she raises Darren's phone.

"And you are sure he'll come back here?"

"I mean, whatever his dad is going to tell him, I'm sure he won't be home this evening, and his favourite car is here,"

Matthais opens the door, stares from Ruby to me, and then sighs, "Are we dropping her off?"

"No," Ruby says. She nods to me, hands me Darren's phone, then heads out.

"Be a little nicer." I hear her whisper to Matthais, and they walk away.

For two hours, I read through papers Ruby gave me.
At some point, the door opens, and two men walk in.

They stare at me, "Should we prepare a room?" They ask.

I shake my head, then with one last glance, they leave. Why do they keep staring at my waist?

It's almost twelve now. Maybe I should just leave.

The door creaks as someone opens it slowly.
He looks like a thief caught.

   "You are late," I smile.

He closes the door gently, "You shouldn't be here." he pulls his chair and pours himself a glass of whiskey.

    "I'm I permitted to ask."

"Baby, you can ask anything you want," he sighs, moving his hand over the glass.

   "What are you thinking of?"

He laughs, "Where to sleep?"

  "Did he sack you?"

He shakes his head and dunks his drink. "Hardly"

"What did he say?" I ask

He doesn't say anything. Maybe i asked too much.

He looks up at me, "It's not that. It's just hard to say"

"Oh, okay." I look anywhere but you.

"So you'll sleep in your room here?"

"Room? There are only dorms for the workers here, my Dad's idea to make sure we dont overwork ourselves. "

"But the guys said they would prepare a room for me,"

He chuckles, "Beats me." He's trying to be annoying. It won't work.

"Where will you sleep?" I ask.

He gets up and picks his coat.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"It's late. I'm taking you back. "

I nod and follow him out. The men salute as we pass by.

"If you dont have anywhere to sleep, you can sleep at my place," I say before I can take it back once we are on the road.

"Pity service. Classic, " he says, his fingers tightening on the wheel.

"It's not. I...I want you to... you know what, forget I asked. "

When we arrive, I say a quick goodbye and get out.
He gets out and locks his car.

   "Where are you going?"
