International Break

As the car pulled up outside St. George's park, I couldn't help feel as excited as I did all those years ago at my first England camp. That feeling will never go away, every time I'm here I just feel so proud and excited.

"You ready?" Lessi questioned as she opened the door and climbed out not even giving me time to answer. I sat still for a minute, preparing myself for all the flashing lights about to come from the media waiting outside.

I stepped out the car smiling as I grabbed my bags out of the boot. Me and less walked up the ramp and were greated by all the staff, most of them giving us welcoming fist bumps. As we walked into the lobby, I didn't even have a chance to look around before I felt a pair of strong arms pulling me into a hug from behind. It was Mary. I turned around and hugged her back, laughing. Tooney and Less were hugging next to us, after a minute or so we switched and I was now the one blessed with Tooney's embrace.

As we continued to chat whilst walking further into the lobby of st George's park, we came across more of our teammates. I said my hello's to everyone, hugging each of them before making my way into the meeting room.

I sat in-between Ella and Lucy while Sarina welcomed us to camp. She didn't wait long before getting right into it and we discussed tactics for our game against Ireland in a few days. That only meant one thing to me. Playing against Katie. I looked forward to international camps because it was an escape from the tension that followed the both of us. Sarina passed us all folders full of information on the people who we would be marking or who would most likely be marking us.

To be honest, I was used to getting a folder about Katie during international camps when we would be playing Ireland, as she would always choose to mark me. It's always been weird though, opening a folder about a player you've known and played with for 8 years but have never really known. If you know what I mean. My other folder was about the Irish goalkeeper who would most likely be starting, Grace Moleny. To be honest, I've always thought Grace was quite pretty, and we've always got along the few times we've spoken after matches. However, she's very close with Katie, so our conversations are usually cut short by the brunette pulling Grace away before our conversations can go too far.

We sat and looked through our folders while Sarina did a quick walk through of our training sessions for the next two days before we play Ireland on Friday.

"Right girls, come up to the table and get the keys to your rooms. You can all relax until dinner at 5:30." Sarina stated as we all rose from our chairs and headed to check who we were roomed with. Everyone's keys were in envelopes with them and their roomies name written on the front:
Lucy and Keira
Georgia and y/n
Esme and Lauren
Chloe and Alex
Millie and Rachel
Alessia and Ella
Mary and Ellie
etc.

"Hey roomie" Georgia shouted as she threw her arm round my shoulders. I always share with Georgia on England camps so it wasn't surprising that we were rooming yet again. Lucy and Keira always room together too, they're always opposite us as well so me and Georgia can have fun playing loads of pranks on them. Lucy and Keira's relationship will always inspire me. Me and Georgia are like their children when we're away on camps.

It's now matchday -1, and I'm getting quite nervous. I don't know what it is because all my friends and family will be in the croud but I just have this feeling. A bad feeling.

We are all sat at breakfast, I'm sitting with Millie, Rachel, Mary, Georgia and Ellie. I've got a big bowl of Cheerios Infront of me, there's just something about them that I find so comforting. The conversation at the table is light, I think we're all tired and excited for the game tomorrow. Millie and Rach haven't stopped cracking jokes though, which is a normal occurrence anyway.

We have a day of light training before we travel to Wembley this evening. We all got changed before heading outside to meet Sarina. We didn't do much, a quick warm up, some easy skills and then Sarina put us in small teams for some matches.

After training was over, we went inside got changed and got ready to head to Wembley. I sat next to Mary on the coach and we chatted about the match tomorrow before taking part in a spontaneous karaoke session with the rest of the girls. Me and Lessi did our famous performance of 'young hearts run free' before Rach sang 'river deep mountain high'. We continued to sing and dance until we arrived at Wembley.

"Y/n, are you ready for tomorrow?" Less asked me as we were walking off the coach and into the hotel.

"As ready as I can be" I nodded as we continued to chat while we walked up to our rooms and went to sleep before the match tomorrow.

a/n: this was actually easier to write then I though it would be haha.
