A/N: A bonus chapter from my main story, just answering the multiple requests for more Dex content!

Dex woke up to the peaceful sound of birds chirping outside their bedroom window.

There hadn't been a whole lot of that growing up—their home had always been too noisy.

He smiled to himself and sat up slowly, trying to avoid waking Biana. He looked down at her, still sleeping, her dark hair coming out of the braid she'd slept in.

They'd been married only a few days, and each day had been better than the last. They'd filled their days with long walks exploring their new property, talking, watching some human movies on the TV that Keefe had insisted they set up in their living room, and getting to know each other in this new way.

But this was the first time he'd woken up before her, so he snuck out of bed, trying not to wake her, and headed for the kitchen.

Breakfast in bed was perhaps a romantic cliché, but he was going to do it anyway. Biana liked that sort of thing.

Before long, he was walking back into their room carrying a tray laden with pastries and tea. He set the tray down carefully on the bedside table before sitting back down beside Biana and leaning over, placing soft kisses across her forehead and down to her cheek.

Her eyes opened slowly and she looked up at him, letting out a content sigh. "Good morning."

"Good morning, beautiful," he whispered, smiling softly.

And she really was.

Even first thing in the morning, when her hair hadn't been fixed and she hadn't applied makeup, she was still an unrivaled beauty.

He ducked his head down to kiss her good morning. When he pulled away, she pouted playfully at him and reached for his face, attempting to bring it back down to her own again.

He grinned at her. "If you want to have breakfast before the tea gets cold, I recommend you hold that thought."

"Breakfast?" Biana looked at the nightstand and saw the breakfast tray. "Aww! You made me breakfast in bed?!"

Dex nodded. "I thought you'd like it." Then he winked at her. "For purely selfish reasons, of course. Seemed a good way to keep us both in this bed for longer."

He leaned down and kissed her again, and was tempted to give up on having hot tea that morning. But then Biana broke the kiss, giggling.

"If we want to have breakfast before the tea gets cold..." she reminded him as she sat up.

Dex kissed her forehead before turning to grab the tray and place it on the bed.

"So long as you hold on to that thought for after breakfast," he told her as he handed her a mug of tea.

"I know it's still early days," Biana told him as she leaned close and placed a feather-light kiss right where his neck met his shoulder, "but I feel like neither one of us has yet to let go of that particular thought."

"If you don't control yourself," Dex said as goosebumps crept up his arms at her touch, "we'll end up cleaning spilled tea and pastries off the floor later."

"Uh-uh, I'm hungry," she told him. "Plus this was a super sweet gesture. I'd hate for it to go to waste."

So they ate their pastries and drank their tea, talking about anything and everything.

They never seemed to run out of things to talk about.

"Aren't you glad you controlled yourself?" He asked her with a grin as they both finished their mugs of tea.
