Narrator's POV

*A month later

It's been a whole month since Julie talked with Luke. It was the most miserable trip the two ever been in. Lately, Julie has been riding with Alex instead of Luke because of the rejection.

Flynn has been trying to talk to her about it, but even Julie couldn't talk to her about it. Luke tried to say he was sorry, but Julie didn't want to hear it. She was too broken-hearted to take his apology. She was too mad. Too depressed.

He couldn't really blame her. If he was rejected, he would do the same thing, too. So, he has been keeping a distance from her until they reach Devontae.

What also happened is that Mitch has been trying to talk to Luke about what happened back at Meadowbrook, but Luke was too mad to talk to him. Luke didn't want to be near a liar. To him, this has been a miserable trip.

Mitch: Everyone! We're here!

Everyone raised their heads and looked towards the sign above them, saying that they made it to their destination. The sun was blocking Julie's eyes, and she brought her hand up to cover the sun.

They went inside of the village, and Julie gasped at the village. It wasn't what she was expecting.

All of the villagers looked so poor, helpless. Like there is no hope in their eyes.

Julie: Are we in the right place?

Mitch: Unfortunately, yes.

Julie: I heard that Devontae was beautiful. Now, it's looks like -

Mitch: It wasn't always like this.

Julie: What happened?

Mitch: Let's just say the king cared more about money than his kingdom.

Julie wanted to cry. She never knew how a king could never take care of his Kingdom all because of money. She couldn't help but wonder why she was getting forced to get married to the king's son again.

She wished she didn't, but she has to. For the good of her Kingdom.

They made it to the front of the palace, and all of them saw the King and his son waiting for them. Alex jumped off his horse with Julie doing the same when Luke noticed how the prince was looking at her. He had a smug look on his face, and Luke had an awful feeling about him.

Luke noticed how one of Julie's straps fell, and he came over to her gently, pulling her aside, behind the horse.

Luke: Hold still.

Julie didn't know what he meant until he pulled the strap up. When he fixed it, his touch lingered onto Julie's skin. They hadn't been this close since the night he rejected her.

She couldn't help but look at his comforting eyes. But it didn't last long because she pulled away from like a disease. She turned towards him.

Julie: Thanks.

Luke: No problem.

They both couldn't look at each other. Both of their hearts were broken. Julie walked away from Luke and went towards the steps of the palace with everyone behind her.

Mitch was right next to her, and once she reached the front steps, he spoke.

Mitch: King John, Prince Nicholas, may I introduce to you Princess Julianna of Valdronia.

She bowed to both of them.

Julie: It's an honor to see you both.

John: It's an honor to meet you as well. *gestures to Nick* This is my son, Nicholas.
