135. So sweet it's nauseating.

OCTOBER 15, 2019

The woman fast-forwards the morning's footage of Réa and Barnes, rolling her eyes.

'At least they don't go at it like rabbits...though I wish they wouldn't go at it at all,' she thinks.

When Réa curls up against Barnes's chest, the woman sets the footage back to normal speed. It's quiet for a short while, then Barnes begins to speak. As soon as she hears another language, she rewinds the footage then pauses it as she boots up the translation software. Once that's ready, she resumes the playback.

'Who knew Barnes was such a sap?' the woman thinks as Barnes tells a sleeping Réa that she's 'the air in his lungs; the blood in his veins; the light to his darkness; the fire in his soul'.

On screen, Barnes says that he's going to marry Réa, and then falls silent for several moments before speaking again.

'He calls her his miracle...that's so sweet it's nauseating,' the woman thinks.

The woman watches the rest of the day's footage—what there is so far, anyway—then contacts the other.

"We need to meet."

Some time later, the woman arrives at the designated spot.

"You're late," the other says.

"I'm sorry. I was unexpectedly delayed. And it's not like I could call you to say I was running late without raising questions."

The other nods.

"True."

It's silent for several beats, then the woman relays the information she's gathered.

"The point of this is to say that you do not need to threaten the Avengers as a whole...simply threatening Barnes would be enough," she wraps up. "Although, it would still be most effective if Réa believes they are all in danger."

The other is silent for some time; just as the woman begins to grow nervous, they speak.

"You have done well. Again." They pause. "It is almost time. I will contact you soon."

With that, the other leaves.

'Ass. Always so abrupt,' the woman thinks.
