Y/n's POV
"Unnecessary. There's too much blood and gore and ew," Penelope commented as her, Derek, Spencer, and I walked out of the movie theater.
"Garcia, it's a slasher film. How do you do a slasher film without violence?" Spencer quizzed.
"You imply it," Penelope replied.
"Baby, the movie is called 'Slice 6'," Derek brought up. "What were you expecting?"
"A refreshing beverage with a twist of comedy. I'm gonna have nightmares for a week," Penelope confessed.
I raised my eyebrows. "Pen, with everything that we do and see on a daily basis, that got to you?"
"Y/n, don't start with me," Penelope lectured. "You're badass and confident, which is awesome, but the mystical mavens of innocence like myself jump at things that go bump in the night."
"Why are you worried? I'm sure that Morgan will protect you. As long as he's not jumping out of his chair like a prepubescent schoolgirl," Spencer teased.
"The only reason I jumped is cause you guys woke me up," Derek claimed.
Penelope laughed. "How could you sleep during that?"
"Easy. You dragged me out after a 12-hour workday," Derek pointed out.
"Sorry," I apologize and lace my fingers with Spencer's. "Spencer and I originally planned this as a date night, but we figured with everything going on, you two might want to do something fun outside of work."
"Oh come on!" Derek groaned. "You enjoyed that? You're telling me that girl didn't know that the unsub was waiting for her upstairs?"
"Villain," Spencer corrected. "In movies, unsubs are called villains.""My bad," Derek muttered.
"You want to know why horror movies are so successful? They prey on our instinctual need to survive. In tribal days, a woman's scream would signal danger and the men would return from hunting to protect their pack. That's why it's always the women and not the men who fall victim to the bogeyman," Spencer explained.
"Count on you, Reid, to break a movie down to science," Penelope joked.
"My favorite thing about horror movies is the suspense factor," I admit. "The ticking clock. The helpless victim walks through the dark, shadows reaching out to get her. A sudden noise draws her attention. Is someone there, or is it just in her head?"
"Still, it's totally unrealistic," Penelope noted. "No one should be walking through a dark alley by themselves at night. At least, not without a Derek Morgan by their side."
"I think the best part of a horror movie is that you never know when the end is gonna come," Spencer shared.
"All right, well, this is us," I say and nod to my car.
"What are you guys gonna do for the rest of the night?" Penelope asked.
"We'll probably just cuddle up on the couch and read a book or something," I assume.
"You were practically on top of Reid in there and you need more cuddling?" Derek questioned playfully.
"You're just mad cause you're lonely," I shoot back jokingly.
"Uh-huh," Derek hummed. "See you guys tomorrow."

"What's Strauss doing here?" Spencer inquired when we walked into the bullpen to see her talking to Hotch.
"I'm not sure," I answer. "But it's probably not good."
"Let's get started," Hotch urged as we all gathered in the briefing room.
