_-_-_Lila's POV_-_-_

"Hello my friend! How are you today?" I say as a lovely light purpled hair girl walks in with a small little bird. My tone is pure cheer. Just smile and look happy, like mom said.

"I'm great, how are you?" She says a smile appears on her face as she looks at me.

"I am positively fine, thanks for asking! What can I do for you?" I reply in her cheery tone.

"Well I am looking for a room for the night, and I know it sounds insane but my bird friend, Sperantia here led me to here." She says quite fast. Must be uncomfortable talking to me.

"Oh well thank you Sperantia!" I say to the bird who nods in confirmation. "The room will cost 6 coins for the night, and that includes dinner and a shower." I list off from memory as keeping direct eye contact with the girl.

"Umm, yeah here's the coins." She said with a face of regret.

"Ok thank you!" I say smiling as I take them and put them in the box underneath the counter. The second I hold the coins I can tell that they aren't real and it's magic. Well she looks pretty beat up and sad so I'll turn my head at that.

"Can I have a name for the room?" I ask.

"Yeah it's Lilith Ast-." She cuts herself off at the last name. Oh alright I think I'll go easy on her once more.

"What was that?" I ask "I got Lilith and then Ast."

"Oh sorry it's Lilith Astrea." She says.

"Ok Lilith! I'm Lila Starling. Here's your key. Would you like me to show you to your room? It's pretty late so we have stopped serving dinner, but I can get you something to eat if you would like." I say meeting her eyes.

I hand her a brass key that has a tag on it that reads 4.

"So is there anything I can do for you?" I ask what I hopeing that it is my last question.

"Um yeah is there anything I could grab to eat?" Lilith ask cautiously.

"Of course! I can get you a salad. Would you like fruit or greens?" I ask really not wanting to go cook a meal.

"Um I'll do greens, and is there anything I can get for Sperantia?" She ask. I looked over to the bird and she said that she had landed on Lilith's shoulder.

"Yes I'll bring up some seeds for her! Do you need me to show you your room?" I question. The smile is getting quite hard to keep shining brightly on my face.

"Uh no but thank you." She said as she steps away from the counter and towards the sign that hangs above the doorway. That read

Rooms

As she walks away I wonder why she was so cautious and quiet. It's weird, did she grow up in a bad home? Or is she hiding something? Other than the coins and last name issue. And she looked like- no that's not possible. I'll deal with that tomorrow.

Ok got to make that salad I think. Crap I didn't ask her if she was allergic to anything. Well I'll just make a generic salad. Green Leaf Lettuce, tomato, cheese, olives, and carrot slices. I put the dressing on the side because she may not like it. As I carried the tray down to her room. I had an idea to create a bed for the bird. I turn around and put the meal on the counter and go behind the counter into the backroom. I hum to myself as I take out an old box and put some cloth in it and stitch a quick blanket. I put all the things into a nest shape and walk out of the backroom. I grab the salad and a bit of seeds that I keep behind the counter and start the walk to Lilith's room once again. I put all three of the items in front of the door and knock and walk away.
