_-_Lilith's POV_-_When Andy finished he stepped back and then Chris leaned in and gave him a plate of food. Eira's voice ripped me out of my head, "Your turn Princess." "No thank you," I said backing away. For a minute Eira looked at me like I was crazy. "The orbs will reveal your truth, Princess." I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come.
"I don't want to do this," I said, my voice firm. "Come now, Lilith," Andy said, his voice encouraging and a hint of something I hadn't heard in his voice before. "It's the only way to uncover the truth." I sighed, my resolve crumbling. I touched the first orb, and the visions began.
As soon as my skin made contact, the world around me began to blur and fade, like a canvas being repainted. Visions assaulted my senses, a barrage of memories and emotions that left me reeling. I saw myself as the happy carefree girl I was just my entire life, but in just a week it was ripped away from me, playing in the sun-drenched gardens of the castle, laughing with my parents as they chased me through the fountains. The scent of blooming flowers and fresh water filled my nostrils, transporting me back to a time of innocence and joy. I remembered this day, right after this my parents were going to tell me about the arranged marriage. I knew this because my mother's hand maid was my best friend she told me everything that the queen and king talked about behind me. But before it happened the vision darkened, like a shadow falling across the sun. I saw the night of the fire, the screams, the desperation as my mother shoved me into a small room with cleaning supplies. The smell of smoke and fear lingered in my nostrils, making my heart race.
The orb revealed my deepest fears, like a mirror reflecting the darkest corners of my soul. I saw myself as a failed leader, unable to protect my people, a vulnerable woman uncertain about her place in the world. I saw myself as a fraud, a pretender to the throne, like an imposter waiting to be exposed. But I also saw glimpses of strength and resilience, like a thread of gold weaving through the tapestry of my soul. I had to confront the darkness within myself and emerge stronger, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
I tore myself out of that world. I took a deep breath as I steeled myself and moved on to the second orb, its surface glowing with an ethereal light. This one presented a labyrinth of mirrors, reflecting my inner doubts and fears like a hall of distorted glass. I saw myself as a disappointment to my people, a weak and uncertain leader, like a reflection in a funhouse mirror. The mirrors taunted me, echoing the harsh words of my advisors and the whispers of self-doubt in my own mind. But I also saw glimpses of courage and determination, like a beacon shining in the darkness. I had to confront the darkness within myself and emerge stronger, like a warrior forging steel in the fire.
With a newfound sense of resolve, I approached the third orb, its glow pulsing like a heartbeat. As I touched it, a mysterious vision unfolded before my eyes, like a tapestry being woven. A young boy, Andy, seemed eerily familiar, and I felt an inexplicable connection to him, like a thread linking us together. The orb hinted at a deeper connection, leaving me with more questions than answers, like a puzzle waiting to be solved.
When the trials ended, I felt raw but enlightened, like a storm having passed. I turned to Andy, my eyes searching for answers, like a seeker looking for truth. "What do you know about my past, Andy?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, like a secret shared in the dead of night.
Andy's expression was somber, like a cloudy sky. "I know we're connected, Lilith. Somehow. I started feeling it when we met," he said, his voice low and mysterious, like a whispered promise. "Then why didn't you say anything!" I interrupted. "I was scared, you scared me, you still do." He replied looking at the floor. When he finally did look back up at me I motioned for him to continue what he was saying, "And in my dreams I sometimes see a female figure leading me away from the bad things. It looked like you. Where connected someway, like two branches on the same tree."
