_-_Lila's POV_-_As I closed my eyes, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The nightmare had been so vivid, so real, that I was still trying to shake off the fear and guilt that lingered. But with Daleyza's soothing touch and gentle words, I began to feel a sense of calm creeping in.
I took a deep breath and let my eyes drift closed, allowing myself to relax into the softness of the bed. But as I started to drift off, I couldn't shake off the feeling that the nightmare was still lurking, waiting to pounce again.
As I stood in the room, I was enveloped in a cold, suffocating fog that seemed to seep into my very soul. And then, the nightmare began. I saw my mother, her eyes wide with terror, running from some unseen horror...
Then the dreamed shifted, and I was back in my village. I can see my inn in the distance and I know I can't go back there. I'll only just want to stay in my dream, safe in my inn where it's familiar and never wake up. And as much as I long to be back in my safe place I know it's not possible. So I set off in the opposite direction and walk towards the forest near my village.
I walked through the forest, my heart pounding in my chest, I started to recall the tales that the village elders told the town children a story about the forest. They called it the Shadowwood.
The village elders gatherd us around a fire and motioned for the oldest of the elders to start. "The Shadowwood holds tales of old, whispered by the wind through ancient trees," Silas started, the oldest of the elders, his long white beard and piercing blue eyes gleaming in the flickering candlelight. "But beware, young ones, for the darkness that lurks within its depths is not to be trifled with."
Silas was the oldest of the elders. He has been on the council for longer than anyone can remember, and has seen the rise and fall of countless civilizations. He is a master of ancient lore and knowledge, and is often sought out for his wisdom and counsel. He ensures that the council is providing guidance and leadership, he also makes sure that the decisions of the council are made with the long-term interests of the world in mind.
"Listen closely, for the whispers of the dead carry wisdom. Heed their warnings, lest you suffer their fate," said Gideon, the third elder, his thin face and sunken eyes seeming to hold an understanding of the mysteries of the universe.
Gideon is the quieter and more reserved member of the council, but he is also one of the most powerful. He has the ability to communicate with the spirits of the dead, and is often called upon to seek their counsel. Even though Necromancy is frowned upon he was will respected. He provided a connection to the past, and to ensure that the decisions of the council are made with the wisdom of those who have come before.
"Some say the Shadowwood is cursed, others a testing ground. I say, 'tis a place of mystery, waiting to be unraveled," said Tobias, the fourth elder, his smooth voice and quick smile seeming to hide a deeper wisdom.
Tobias is a charming and persuasive member of the council, with a quick wit and a silver tongue. He is a master of diplomacy and negotiation, and is often called upon to smooth over conflicts and disagreements. He provided a voice of reason and compromise, and to ensure that the decisions of the council are made with the interests of all parties in mind.
"Uncover the secrets hidden within the Shadowwood's heart. But first, face your fears, and the darkness that lies within," said Astrid building onto the speech, the fifth elder, her wild mane of curly hair and piercing brown eyes seeming to hold a fierce determination.
Astrid is the youngest of the elders, she joined the council a few years ago at the age of 67, even if she doesn't look that old. Astrid is a fierce and independent member of the council, with a strong sense of justice and a willingness to stand up for what she believes in. She, even in her age, is a skilled warrior and strategist, and is often called upon to provide military advice and guidance. She endure that the decisions of the council are made with the protection and defense of the world in mind.
