Warning mention of blood/death._-_Lila's POV_-_
As we descended the hill, the darkening sky and picking up wind carried an unsettling energy that raised the hairs on the back of my neck. A chill ran down my spine. Dave and Daleyza exchanged a glance. But I was too lost in thought to think about it. The trees seemed to lean in, their branches creaking ominously, as if warning us to turn back.
"Don't worry." Daleyza said turning around to face us, "Where almost at the village." As she turned back around the breeze passed by again. "Wow, isn't that an extremely cool view!" Dave said trying to lighten the mood. I decided to help him "Yeah, it is!" I chirped in.
I looked down to see a picture perfect village, shining in a warm golden light. The roofs are rustic brown/red blending nicely with lush greenery. The streets turned and twisted leading to which was most likely the village square, where people gather, their laughter carrying on the gentle breeze. It makes me miss my home, my village, my life. I thought. As the sun sets, the sky transforms into a blend of purple, pink, and orange, casting a magical glow over the village.
"Ah, Princess Lilith," a voice that sent a chill down my spine. Where the heck did that come from! I internally screamed as I whipped around to see a figure in a cloud of darkness, no light coming through at all. "I see you've made some friends." Dave and Daleyza eyes were wide with fear. I wanted to move and put an arm around Lilith but I couldn't move, and I was too afraid to speak. "And Andy, you dare to turn your back on me? Both of you shall pay a price." The voice was like a cold whisper that seemed to seep into my very soul, making my heart race with a mix of fear and adrenaline.
It was him, wasn't it? The inn destroyer. The last thing I saw was him waving his and towards us. And then darkness, darkness then and nothing. The memory of that fateful night flashed before my eyes, the inn's burning embers in my mind like a haunting refrain.
Suddenly, a world appeared around me dissolving the darkness into that horrible room. As I stood in the room I was enveloped in a cold, suffocating fog that seemed to seep into my very soul. And then, the nightmare began. I saw my mother, her eyes wide with terror, running from some unseen horror. I can't do this again. I scream at her with all my might. But she doesn't hear me. I can't let her die again. I screamed again, and again tried to warn her, but it was like my voice was trapped in my throat. The darkness closed in, and I saw the glow of a blood red, the sound of a sickening crash, and a bright flash or red. When my eyes recover all I see is my mother's lifeless body crumpling to the ground. The fog grew thicker, suffocating me, as the nightmare intensified, relentlessly replaying the trauma of my mother's death, taunting me with the helplessness I felt that day.
But the nightmare didn't end there. I saw the killer's face, twisted in a cruel grin, as they loomed over my mother's body. I saw their hands, still bathed in that blood red glow, reaching out to grab me next. I tried to run, but my legs were heavy and unresponsive, as if rooted to the spot. The killer's grip closed around my ankle, and I felt a chilling sense of despair wash over me. The killer's eyes seemed to bore into my soul, a cold, calculated cruelty sparkling in their depths, as they began to drag me down into the darkness, my mother's lifeless gaze was the last thing I saw as the nightmare consumed me whole.
I tried my hardest to wake up, but I couldn't, I couldn't wake up. The nightmare continued to play out, a never-ending cycle of horror and fear. I saw my mother's body being dragged away, her eyes open and unseeing, staring accusingly at me. I saw the killer's face, laughing and triumphant, as they disappeared into the darkness. And I was left alone, reliving this hell, unable to escape the memory of my mother's murder. The cycle of horror repeated itself, an endless loop of trauma, each iteration digging deeper into my psyche, until I felt like I was drowning in a sea of despair, unable to break free from the grip of the nightmare.
Suddenly her mouth opened and the cold body spoke, "It's your fault my little star. You're the reason I'm gone. It's all your fault." "I know my mother, I know." I sob falling to my knees knowing she's right. The words pierced my soul like a knife, the guilt and shame I'd been carrying for so long now vocalized by the one person I loved and lost, crushing me beneath the weight of my own culpability.
As I knelt there, consumed by grief and self-blame, the darkness began to take on a life of its own, swirling around me like a living entity, its cold tendrils wrapping around my heart and squeezing tight. I felt myself being pulled down, down, down into an abyss of sorrow and regret, the weight of my own guilt crushing me beneath its unbearable pressure. Just as the darkness seemed to be closing in, a gentle figure appeared in the dream, her warm presence calming my racing mind and guiding me out of the nightmare, back to the safety of reality.
"Hush child, your alright. Calm down, your safe." Slowly I open my eyes to see Dave in front of me. I turn my head slightly to see Daleyza next to me, brushing my hair with her hand.
"Wh--wha--where are we? What happened? Where's Lilith!" I say going back into my panic. "Just calm down love. It's ok. Rest your head I'll keep your dreams plesent." Daleyza said as she put her hand up to my head and I closed my eyes dropping back into the dream world.
