αυσяα inhaled a sharp breath, her lungs filling with salted water. She was having a dream, or nightmare so call it. She was drowning. Aurora pried her eyes open to see a glimpse of someone or something. Aurora didn't know what it was, but felt its dark aura from where she was hiding in a dark cave. A tall figure appeared, pulling her from her focus. It didn't seem to notice her, traveling toward the previous direction. All she could make out was one of the two mentioning a girl."She is fated to fall, to discover their secrets, and decipher the lies." The one voice called out.
"I need her power on my side. She is the pawn needed to complete the transition." The other responded, growing louder.
Aurora tried to move closer. She was pulled back, the cave now glowing with a barrier of an invisible wall. The voices shouted in her mind, overwhelming her. She suddenly felt like she couldn't breathe, eyesight becoming foggy. Squinting, she could've sworn they turned and saw her.
Aurora's lungs were reaching their capacity. Suffocating. The voice yelled.
"You will turn to me!" It demanded.
Aurora was getting dizzy. Her head felt fuzzy, but she fought to hear the rest.
She didn't understand yet.
Just one more second...⚕️⚕️⚕️
Aurora woke in a sweat, Artemis shaking her. She sat up trying to catch her breath. Looking around to check if she was still in the trance, she realized she was on the white marble floor of Olympus.
"What happened? I was coming back from Athena's and saw you on the ground!" Artemis spoke with worry.
"I- i don't know. I thought i was in my room." Aurora replied.
"Have you ate? Are you hydrated?" Artemis rambled at the girl.
"I think I need a drink, i'm fine. I'm not a child." Aurora confessed, half lying about what really happened.
"Yes I know sis I just want to make sure you're okay." Artemis stated, releasing a breath she was holding.
Aurora came to her senses, attempting to act normal as the nightmare consumed her mind. Artemis held out her hand for Aurora to grab, pulling her up.
"Thank you, sorry for the scare." Aurora smiled.
Artemis smiled back, turning around and walking away. Aurora stood there, not knowing what to do. Was she the one those people were talking about? Was she being lied to? By who? What did they mean by turn? Fall? Aurora shook her thoughts from her mind as she went to go find her best friend.
As Aurora's boots hit the floor, the echo radiated across the whole hall. It felt almost too silent. Olympus is always quiet, but never did she feel the stillness bounce all around her. She came to a halt up at a tall, pearl, white door. This door belonged to her room, and of course her best friends. She turned the golden knob to reveal her lion, μαχητής, meaning warrior. Aurora called her Woe. Woe was a gift from her sister, Artemis being the goddess of wild animals.
Aurora grew up on Olympus, training and hunting with her sister and the other Olympians. She was the less known triplet of Artemis and Apollo. With a gift from the god, Hecate distributed her powers to the girl, in assistance of her fate, while also in honor of her sister Leto. Aurora was different than the other goddesses and gods. She could travel through different dimensions and worlds. She trained endlessly with Hades due to his abilities in shadow traveling. But there was still so much she didn't know about her powers. Being a daughter of Leto, she was an excellent archer. She often visited her mother in dreams on Delos, putting her space traveling to use. She wondered what her mother was actually like.
Aurora was the goddess of space, air, and witchcraft.
No matter how much she trained and tried to learn about herself, Aurora still felt like a stranger to her body.
Aurora instantly beamed at the sight of Woe. Woe shook her mane and purred. She knelt down to her animal and pet her back. Aurora was never gifted with the ability to speak to animals, but somehow she could communicate with Woe, wondering if it was apart of her witchcraft powers. Aurora was still lost in a maze with her abilities and their limit's.
𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘈𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘢? Woe questioned as she leaned into Aurora's touch.
"I'm not sure Woe, everything is getting so confusing, I don't know what to believe anymore." Aurora signed flopping down on her velvet black couch. Her dark green eyes scanned her bookshelves, hoping it the world would send her a sign or answer.
"There are so many hidden meanings and I feel like something bad is going to happen soon." Aurora admitted after a moment of silence.
Woe climbed upon Aurora's lap, comforting the girl. Aurora took a deep breath, deciding not to dwell over things she doesn't understand. Gently shoving Woe to the side, she got up to talk to her brother. If there was one person she trusted most, it was Apollo. He always acted like an overprotective older brother and she secretly admired that about him, although sometimes he was a little too much.
Tying her long hair up into a messy bun, Aurora made her way back down the familiar hall to Apollo's room. Aurora recalled her fascination with her brother's palace on Olympus. The sight of it never failed to make her feel instantly warm and fuzzy. She knocked twice, in the pattern they made together when they were young. The door opened to her smiling brother with a book in hand.
"Hey Roar, what's up with my favorite sister?" Apollo grinned welcoming her in.
"No need to boost my ego dear brother." Aurora rolled her eyes, hiding a smirk.
"I come to ask of a big favor and since i'm your 𝘧𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 sister I was hoping you could help me out." Aurora mumbled fast, nervously.
"Anything for my little sis, unless you're asking for me to sneak you more human music, you know how much Ares hates your taste." Apollo huffed, sinking down into one of his yellow cushioned bean bags.
"Now that you mention that, I might have two favors. Anyways, I actually came to ask about a prophecy." Aurora claimed, shuffling on her bean bag.
"Roar, you know I don't know every prophecy on the top of my head, and if I had known about one, I am not allowed to tell." Apollo spilled out his words.
"So you do know of a prophecy?" Aurora squinted her eyes, noticing her brother's body language was off.
"Nope, no prophecy, not my place, sorry sis!" Apollo exclaimed, standing up and becoming suddenly interested in whatever book he was holding.
"Apollo, you know I have been training my whole life, I must have some purpose if I am a goddess without any idea of what my powers really do." Aurora taunted at her older brother as he stared off into the sun from the gold accent window.
"Listen sis, it might not be you, it can't be." Apollo turned to face his little sister, hoping she wouldn't look into it.
But Aurora was determined to figure it out. The more she waited, the more the dream haunted her. The voices swirling around in her mind, reminding her that was so much more than what everyone was leading onto.
