тнє Apollo cabin was just as she expected. Mixes of yellow, gold, metal painted suns hung around. There were music boxes placed on a few of the side tables, pages of lyrics and musical notes sprawled out on the floor. It was lively and made her feel that sense of comfort she's been yearning to feel again.
Aurora was startled by a blonde boy tapping her shoulder.
"Hi, I'm Will Solace, head counselor of cabin 7." He introduced.
"Aurora Castro, nice to meet you Will" Aurora smiled at the taller boy.
"Follow me, your bed is over here." Will signaled his head toward the other side of the cabin. "If you need anything let me know, welcome sister." He glanced back, giving her a smile.
"Thank you." Aurora accepted, taking in a title that she knew was a lie. She couldn't help but feel a little guilty. Yet she placed her bag in a safe under the bed, taking in the bed and new belongings. She ran her finger along the frame of the bed, painted with small decals of the sun and musical symbols.
There was a window off to the side of her bed, showcasing the entrance of the forest.
"Your lion is welcome to stay and sleep next to your bunk." The boy turned around to relieve Aurora's obvious anxiety of being away from her best friend.
"I appreciate that, thank you again." Aurora nodded to Will as she watched him exit the cabin.
Aurora decided to go test out the archery. Snatching her quiver and throwing it over her shoulder, she took one last look at her new home for a while.
Aurora observed camp as she walked over to the concave of hill that the archery boards were standing. Crossing her arms over her chest, she watched a younger camper struggle to place an arrow correctly on his bow. Strutting over to where he was having complications, Aurora came up behind him, using her hands over his to guide his hands and body position correctly. Taking a step back once she was satisfied with her work, the boy shot a look over his shoulder nervously to see who helped him. He got distracted by her new face, accidentally releasing the arrow to the ground. He looked back at his bow, then to the grass where the arrow stuck out. He belittled himself in embarrassment, kicking it off to the side.
"Sorry kid, I was trying to help." Aurora confessed, making an attempt to break the awkward silence following her gesture. She wasn't the best at reading emotions, nor comforting people. Aurora has mostly grown up on her own, Artemis being out in the forest or out on hunt and Apollo, he tried but it was always hard to spend time together being gods. She built the social skills she has with Woe and Athena. She half felt the reason Artemis gave her the lion was as a companion since she couldn't be there herself for Aurora.
"Oh um no, thank you for showing me. I uhm don't really know how to do this." The young boy revealed, nervously scratching the back of his neck.
"No problem moon." Aurora smiled at the black haired boy as she gave him a name.
"My names Micheal Yew, but moon works too!" Micheal exclaimed, happy to have made a possible friend.
"I'm Aurora Castro, you can call me whatever. Who's your parent, if you have one yet." Aurora awaited for the boys answer, unable to tell from his aura.
"I'm unclaimed, i've been here for 2 weeks." Micheal shrugged with a flat smile.
Deciding to change the sore subject, she turned her head towards the boards. "Would you like me to teach you how to use those?" She pointed to his set of bow and arrows.
"Yeah that would amazing Sunshine." Micheal beamed proud of his nickname. Aurora glowed at the name, in awe of the younger boy.
For the next hour, the two practiced together, Micheal's form getting better each shot. Aurora was proud of the kid, his newfound happiness and energy causing her to feel his emotions rub off on her as well.
Aurora had fun with Micheal but she wanted to take a dip in the lake then go off to sword fight. She said bye to moon, letting him know to come find her whenever. He went back to practicing, determined to make Aurora proud when they met next. She made her way back to the cabin, grabbing a bathing suit and changing quick. Aurora threw an oversized camp shirt over, twisting the cabins door knob once again to visit the lake. She made it to the lake without any social interaction, thanking the gods she could have some time to herself to think.
Aurora pulled her shirt over her head, placing it on the dock as she slipped into the water from the metal ladder. Her body engulfed in the water, the familiar cold sensation running through her veins. Aurora relaxed into the water, already feeling relieved. She ducked her head under, kicking the surface to push herself lower into the body of water.
As Aurora resurfaced to take a breath, rubbing her eyes of water. Going back under, Aurora's comforting sense disappeared, her body becoming heavy. She felt the sun get sucked out of her and her eyes were flashing between the shadow of the water and the nightmare she experienced that night back on Olympus. Her lung capacity depleted. Aurora's ears buzzed with the sound of the dark voice in a distance, echoing all around her. She suddenly felt trapped and consumed by its taunting. Pushing her arms and legs against the water trying to pull her beneath, she used all her strength to make it back to the light surface, to be free of the painful feeling. Reaching air, Aurora coughed from impact of her airways failing. She flipped her hair over, fingers brushing her blonde hair back. She opened her eyes back to the warmth of the sun and bright blue waters. Aurora quickly swam back to the ladder, climbing up and flopping onto the deck which now had an outline of her body from the water. Aurora shoved her hands beneath her body to sit up. She hated that she loved water, but water didn't seem to love her.
The girl got up, tossing the shirt over her frame. She entered her cabin, taking advantage of the emptiness for a shower. Rinsing her hair and body quickly, Aurora stepped out grabbing a towel to cover herself. She walked over to her dresser, grabbing a pair of light gray washed jean shorts, another jet black corset top and a camp shirt over. She wasn't a big fan of the 'out there orange' color but was forced to wear it, though she preferred darker colors. Plus, blonde was the outfit.
Carelessly tying her hair up, Aurora grabbed her sword, twisting it in the sunlight to look at the details glow in the afternoon sun.
Aurora had always loved training, with the other gods it was obviously had a lot more difficulty and this was a playground for her, she could also train with Woe for battles together and to practice the maneuvers on a dummy. She whistled for Woe who came pouncing up from behind cabin 7.
The two walked over to the separate section of the training arena to the dummies. Aurora started to warm up on the dummy, Woe galloping back and forth as her warm up. Once she felt ready to begin, Aurora pulled out a small journal from her pocket where she wrote dueling plans that she had come up with to try with her lion. Explaining the techniques with Woe, they attempted to execute her thoughts. The duo did good, figuring out a base of the command, writing down what to focus on for perfecting the moves. She dismissed Woe, declaring that it was enough for the day. Aurora stayed to practice her more advanced maneuvering that she couldn't use on the campers without questions. With no one else in this area, Aurora wanted to tap into her powers and see how she could incorporate them into fighting for more power. She never knew what she would come across during the fate of her prophecy.
Aurora learned easily on her own, but she also asked Hecate if she knew of any magic that could travel onto the weapon, increasing its strength or ability. Hecate offered information to the girl, but she also read a lot which further explained magical powers linking with fighting. Aurora became extremely exceptional at connecting the two together during practice battles with the gods and goddesses that dared to spar with her. She also excelled at archery as known, but that ran in the triplets natural born abilities.
After training for hours on end, Aurora exerted the power of magic lingering on the swords blade back into her veins, feeling pleased of her performance.
A figure peeked out from behind a pillar, watching Aurora as she tucked her sword into her back pocket, exiting the arena.
