Baby steps

I had to attempt and walk on my knee so I could be discharged. I get up with the help of the nurses, I get my crutches and attempt it. There was something not right "it still feels weird" I say
"It's going to" one of the nurses say
"It feels how it did before" I say
"Before the surgery?" Another asks
"Mhm" I reply
"We can get another x-ray if you like" she says
"Yeah thanks" I say.

I sit back down in the bed and Leah comes over. "Everything okay?" She asks
"It doesn't feel right" I say, Beth and Viv were coming in later today. Considering I'd been in for four days now.
"I'm getting another x-ray" I add
"Hopefully it is right, it just may feel weird" Leah says
"Yeah" I say and sigh

I get my x-ray done and we have to wait a couple of hours for the results. I hear two people enter the room "hi, which bed is Bailey mead in?" The thick Irish accent says
"Bed four" the nurse replies
"Thanks" she says

I look up and see Katie and Caitlin stood holding hands. "Hey" I say
"Hi" Caitlin says and comes over to give me a hug. The nurse comes over and interrupts the moment, "we got your scans back"she says
I sit up "is it good?" I ask
"Nothing is wrong, it will be how you're feeling. Your not confident on your knee yet" she says
"Okay" I say
"Can I try again?" I ask
"Of course, get your crutches and we can try" she says
The three girls head round to the other side and Leah passes me my crutches before moving, I get them and the nurse helps me stand up "thanks"I say
"I'm going to take 5 steps backwards. Then you try" she says
I try "it's painful" I say
"It will be" she says
Leah gets it on a video.

"I'll get your discharge papers" the nurse says as she helps me back to the bed. "Thanks" I say
I post the video on my story 'small steps on a long road to recovery'

Leah drove me back to Beth and vivs house. She helps me inside and she stays for a bit. My leg was raised by a highland cow cushion on their sofa. "We've all got training" Viv says
"Yeah I know, go on. I'll be fine" I say
"You sure?" Beth says
"I'm positive have a good session" I say
"I can stay if you want" Leah says
"Don't be silly" I say
"I'll be fine" I say
"Okay" Leah says and the three of them leave.
After about half an hour the door opens. I see Lia "what you doing here?" I ask
"Not training" she says
"Why?" I ask
"Asked for time off, personal reasons" she says
She sits next to me.

It was silent, awkward.
"How you feeling?" She asks me
"But disappointed I guess" I say
"I'm sure Cait told you" Lia says breaking the tension
"Yeah, I'm sorry Lia" I say
"Why? She kisses me, in fact she has sex with me. But still manages to keep her girlfriend" Lia says
"Wait you had sex?" I ask
"Yeah" Lia says
"She never told me that" I say
"So Katie doesn't know. Shit" I say

She hugs into the side of me "I'm sorry about everything" she says
"Me too Lia. I lead you on, I didn't realise I'm sorry" I say
"No it's fine, I should've thought about it properly. I just let it happen" she says
"Plus all the girls have been shipping you and Leah" she adds
"They have?" I ask
"Yeah, well every time one of us have visited you. She's been there" Lia says
"Trust me, me and Leah. We are nothing" I say
"You sure?" She asks
"Yeah I'm sure" I say
"Well-" I say
"Tell me it!" Lia says

"We've kissed" I say
"Anything else?" She asks
"At camp she took me into the hydro room. It was so romantic" I say
"Aahhh!" Lia squeals

"What you two gossiping about?" Beth asks as she walks in
"Oh, nothing" I say and me and Lia both laugh.
Lia gets up and says goodbye, before leaving.
"You good?" Viv asks
"Yeah, we talked through stuff" I say
"Good" Beth says
