Katsuki dropped the flower bouquet he held when he saw you hugging another guy. He has come to your apartment to confess and here you were, hugging another guy.
You smiled up at him as he ruffled your hair. Katsuki had the urge to storm up and ask what the hell you were doing.
"I'm angry too." Shoto said from beside him, his eyes getting heated from watching you laugh at the guy in front of you.
"Who invited you?" Katsuki grumbled as he watched you wave goodbye to whoever that guy was.
You dropped your smile, sighing. Just as you turned, your eye caught the two of them. You blinked and Katsuki had enough, storming up to you. Shoto followed behind, a bit angry at you.
"Who the hell was that?!" Katsuki shouted. He could create a dent in the concrete as he stomped over to you.
"W-what?" You nervously laughed. "Sorry, I don't think I can tell you."
"Why the hell not?!"
"Why the hell not?"
"Because! Because..." You hesitated. "Ugh...he told me not to tell anyone."
"Hah! You claimed that you loved me and yet here you are, putting your fucking hands on another guy!" Katsuki scoffed, acting angry. He was, but he felt his heart sinking to the floor.
"I'm disappointed." Shoto agreed.
"Listen—"
"No, I don't want to listen to your bullshit!" Katsuki pointed a finger at your chest. "I never should've believed you. I never should've..."
He didn't finish the sentence, turning away. You quickly latched onto his arm.
"What the—?! Let go of me!"
"No! You're gonna hear me out!" You held onto his arm tightly.
"Let go." Shoto grabbed your arm harshly and pulled you back. Men being men, clueless about their strength. Your back hit the fence.
You trembled, sinking to the floor and groaning at your back.
"Shit." Shoto cursed, crouching. "Sorry. You okay? Ugh, I'm just like my father."
"What the fuck?!" Katsuki shoved Shoto out of the way and got to his knees, grabbing your shoulders. "What hurts? Your back?! Can you feel your legs?!"
"I'm...I'm fine. I'm okay. Just...just hurts a bit." You smiled. "Now that I have you attention, I just have to let you know that the guy I was hugging was my brother."
"...the fuck?"
"Yeah. He's...actually a celebrity. He came home to see me for a bit and he couldn't stay long because the paparazzi were following him. A-and I haven't seen him in a long time, ever since my...my..." Your voice faltered and you took in a breath.
"Yeah, I got it." Katsuki didn't push, his hand moving to rub your aching back. "I'm...I...I didn't mean to react that way."
"No, I get it. I also would've freaked if I saw you hugging someone else." You smiled but it didn't reach your eyes.
"No, that's not true." Katsuki said firmly, "You're not like me."
You smiled. He saw through your lie.
"Okay, you caught me." You gently put your head on his shoulder. "It's been so long since I saw my brother. And then he just left after five years."
"Asshole." Katsuki muttered under his breath, still caressing your back.
"I understand, though. He was never the same after my mom and dad died in a car crash." You nuzzled his shoulder without thinking. "So he just...drifted away."
Katsuki's eyebrows shot to his forehead. He always thought you were a dumb girl, everything was set for you. Everyone just cleared the path for you. In his eyes, you had never suffered a day in your life. Never had to work for anything.
And the way you found comfort in the caressing on your back...
"Shut up." He grabbed your shoulders. "Don't be fucking stupid. He's an asshole."
"But-"
"Asshole."
"Yeah bu-"
"Asshole."
"Ka-"
"Asshole. He's a fucking asshole."
You sighed as Katsuki made you get to your feet. He pushed you into your apartment, leaving poor Shoto outside.
Shoto stood there for a second before sighing and briskly walked back home.
"Don't you have work today?" You asked as you handed him a water bottle.
"No. I was free today so I went to your stupid apartment." Katsuki chugged the bottle of water, his eyes wandering around your living room. It was...messy.
Messy in a way that was organized.
Like messy handwriting that was still readable.
"Sit." You patted the spot beside you. Katsuki grumbled but obeyed anyways, sitting beside you.
He remembered the flowers and he got mad all over again at your brother.
"Hey, Kat?" You ignored Katsuki's grumbling at you to not use that nickname. "Why do you have a job as a cashier when your parents are rich?"
Katsuki paused, glancing at you before setting his water bottle down. He leaned back against the couch. It was silent for a moment. You were sure he wouldn't respond.
"I was kicked out." Katsuki started, "All because that shitty hag told me I keep attracting gold diggers."
You looked at him incredulously. "Huh?"
"Too many girls were asking me out because of my money." Katsuki explained, folding his hands. He rested his arms on his knees. "And then she kicked me out. Told me to wife someone up before I came home."
"And...you were too stubborn to do that?" You guessed, a smile playing on your lips.
"You fucking bet." Katsuki grinned, turning to face you. "I told that old hag she'd be old and rotten before I'd come home."
You questioned his relationship with his mom but didn't try to pry. "Huh. So, you're not planning on...dating anyone?"
Katsuki's eyes met yours for a moment. His eyes flickered away, landing on the toys that littered the corner of your living room. His eyes flicked to the curtains and the plants, to the lights and then to the doorway.
Katsuki's eyes returned to yours.
"Are you?"
You were taken aback at his question. You smiled.
"Yeah. I am."
Katsuki's heart was pounding faster and faster. Your loving gaze. Your gentle eyes.
Too overwhelmed.
"Keep looking." Katsuki stood, leaving you with those harsh words. "He probably isn't here."
You sat there, still trying to register what just happened as Katsuki left. He felt immediate regret but walked home anyways.
