I woke up to the sound of Geo shivering in his sleep and crying. I opened my eyes, he was curled up and shaking. It looked like he was having a nightmare, so I woke him up. Geo jumped awake, looked around, there were tears in his eyes and he walked outside once he saw me. I got up and followed him. "Are you okay?" I asked. Geo seemed tense. "I'm fine!" He scoffed. "Are you sure?" I asked. Geo rolled his eyes at me and started walking towards the stream of water outside the cave. "Geo, you looked like you were having a nightmare," I said. I was concerned about Geo, I wish he would just talk to me and not avoid me. "We should check the forest," Geo suggested. I followed him and grabbed his shoulder. "Geo, are you okay?" I firmly asked. "I said, I'm fine!" Geo exclaimed. "Why can't you just accept that, you stupid idiot!""Because I know it's not true." I said through my tears. I looked at Geo, his eyes softened, and then they got wet and he started to cry. "I should be fine, it was just a stupid nightmare," Geo cried. I never imagined Geo crying, his tears were falling like water drops from a leaking sink, soft and slow. His tears were like calm rain. "It's okay, I get them too," I said. Geo hugged me and let himself cry into my chest for a moment. I softly patted his back until he calmed down. "Sh..." I muttered. "I'm okay, I don't think that anyone else is here," He said and we continued walking. We stumbled across a meadow of light purple flowers, they shone under the light of the moon like crystals. They seemed out of place with all of the blues, but they also blended in too, it was strange. "Pretty," I muttered. "It wouldn't matter if we just relaxed, right?" Geo asked. "Nope, not at all," I said. Geo and I sat in the middle of the flower meadow, purple particles lit up the night sky. It was something out of a fairy tale. "You know, you're my first-ever friend?" I chuckled. "No, what about Willow?" Geo scoffed. "We're six years apart, when I was 16 she was 10, but we're the same age now," I explained. "I really was your first friend, your life was so sad without me," Geo sighed."It was," I muttered under my breath. Geo and I went silent for a second, but then I felt his finger go up my wrist. I flinched and then sighed. "What are those?" Geo asked. He was asked about where I hurt myself, but I didn't know how to talk about those things. "I think you know," I sighed. "I do..." Geo said. "Um...they're not that new. Sometimes all of the thoughts about the mindscape get too overwhelming and I need something else to feel," I explained. "I used to do that," Geo paused for a second. "If it's about feeling something else, you could try running," Geo said. "What?" I scoffed. "No, I'm serious, you start to feel the pain in your chest and it distracts you, then you start thinking about how much you hate running," Geo explained. "Okay, I'll try that," I chuckled. We both sat there, not knowing what to say to each other. It was so awkward, I didn't know if I should've talked about why I did it or something else. "Did I ever tell you how I got the scar on my face?" Geo asked, turning to me. "No," I turned to look at Geo. "Until I was like 9, I lived with my father, who...was not the best man. He had addiction issues and he would always constantly remind me and my little sister that 'she was hot, you were just a side effect,' I always was trying to make him happy, I'd hug him and tell him I loved him, then he'd push me to the floor. I wasn't allowed to call him dad, only sir. One day I smiled at him and he always talked about how much he hated my face, so he grabbed me by my wrist and pulled me into the kitchen. He grabbed a kitchen knife and carved a triangle into my face, pulled off the flesh, and put it in the sink's garbage disposal. He let go of me to turn it on, blood splattering all over the sink. The door had been left open so I made a run for it. I ran from a random town on the edge of Lexan right to Vandalia, that's when I ran into Lady Molly, and she saved me," Geo explained. To say that my jaw was dropped was an understatement. "He pulled your skin off and then put it in the garbage disposal!" I exclaimed. "Yep, it was a thick chunk of flesh," Geo said. "What?" I cried. "Uh...let's change the subject. What kind of music do you listen to?" Geo asked. "The emo indie trio," I said. "Phoebe, Lucy, and Julien?" Geo asked. "Yep," "That's some emo shit right there," Geo chuckled.
