ELLE

The questions started off innocently enough, with Cam asking me about my favorite movie. I learned that he has a weakness for lasagna, and he intently listened to me as I gushed around about my desires to wander the streets of Paris. The clinking of cutlery and the laughter from other tables created a delightful ambience that enhanced our conversation.

"Alright, it's my turn now." I said, a sly grin gracing my lips. "If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?"

He took a moment to think, his eyes locked with mine. "I've always wanted to visit Italy. The rich history, incredible art, and of course, the food. I'd love to experience it all."

"That sounds amazing. Maybe we can go there together someday."

"I'd love that, Belle."

As we sampled the menus, we moved on to discussing food preferences. I expressed my love for traditional Italian cuisine classics, while he boasted about his palate, open to trying any dish. We laughed at our different tastes.

"Next question," Cam nodded. "If you had to choose one superpower, what would it be?"

"I would choose the power of teleportation. Imagine I could instantly move from one place to another. That would be so cool."

Cam let out a chuckle. The sound of his laughter is warm and welcoming, like a tune that never gets old. His eyes shine when he laughs, filled with a happiness that spreads. It's like the world becomes a little brighter every time he chuckles. "That's a great choice. I could definitely use that power too."

We laughed and smiled as we discovered our shared interest in hiking and recalled childhood memories, I began to feel a genuine connection with him. As the game drew on, he asked me about my previous relationship.

"Honestly, I haven't been in a relationship before. It just never seems to happen for me."

His grin widened.

"Well, isn't that lucky for me? I get to be your first."

My heart did a little flip in my chest as I struggled with my own conflicting emotions. In that moment, I felt seen in a way I never had before. His words were a balm to my insecurities, a reassurance that I was worthy of love and affection despite my lack of experience. But more than that, they ignited a flicker of hope within me, a glimmer of possibility that whispered of a thing filled with love and happiness. My curiosity and caution made me flip the question back to him. "And what about you? Have you had any relationships before?"

A wave of nervousness washed over me. Did he notice the tremble in my voice? But as I stole a glance at him, his confident demeanor and warm smile eased my nerves.

"No, I haven't." He said simply, his voice calm and steady.

For a moment I was taken aback. How could someone like him, the handsome basketball captain with his easy charm and magnetic presence, not have been in a relationship? He was beautiful, in every sense of the word, with his tousled dark hair and crooked smile. Who wouldn't want to be with him?

"I have been with multiple girls, Elle, but none of them were serious or official. They were just casual flings, you know? I didn't allow anyone to get too close. However, I assure you, it would be a different story with you."

I studied his face, searching for any signs of deception, but all I saw was a sincerity that surprised me. It was like a validation of our connection, a confirmation that he wanted to share something so personal with me. His hand gently brushed mine, causing a rush of excitement to course through me. Every nerve seemed to tingle with anticipation, craving his touch. I found myself drawn closer to him, yearning to be enveloped in his comforting warmth.
