Shakespeare

You don't have to write like Shakespeare

And you don't have to read my mind

Because by who you are and not what you do

You should be defined

You don't have to write like Kafka

Or to think like Austen

Your actions, not your words

Are what I'll get lost in

You're not Edgar Allen Poe

I'm well aware

To tell you you need to write like him

Wouldn't be fair

Shakespeare wrote:

In black in my love may still shine bright

And that is something

That you would never right

You show love

In different ways

You hold my umbrella so I don't get wet

And you make me tea on icy winter days

You don't have to write George Orwell books

We'll write our own story in 2024

Cause it's not all these authors, it's you

That I truly adore.
