Hyunjin has never felt more confused in his whole life.
If it's real, he's never felt more thankful either.
The doctor talked about a concussion but that's all his ears and mind could gather.
He was aware it wasn't right, burdening his members like this but really, he had no other option.
He was just so tired and so confused, he only focused on the white hospital wall he had suddenly found so interesting.
He was glad the one who got hurt was him.
Glad Minho was healthy.
"Hyunie..."
"Minho, we talked about... before the crash-"
"Yes we did."
"I was so scared. In my mind you had died, you'll never guess how scared, how traumatic that was, your face, you-"
"Shhh, I'm okay, you're okay. It's normal. What you saw was a twisted turn of words and phrases you heard from us while you were in a coma. Your mind messed it all up and persuaded you that I was dead. But I'm not. I'm here and very much real."
"I love y-"
Everything stopped.
His eyes focused on plain air and words could not get out of his mouth.
He was there but he wasn't.
"Hyunjin? Hey, talk to me."
"What?"
"You're back... what happened?"
"I don't know it was as if I glitched. "
"Okay... well talk about it with your doctor then, right?"
"Yes, sure. Cool."
Yet Minho could not get that gut feeling to leave him at peace.
Even now that Hyunjin was finally awake, he was sure something was wrong.
He saw Hyunjin and he knew something was off, worryingly so.
"Minho, it's the first time I'm happy i lived, whatever happens next."
"We'll get through anything. Together."
As together as they could be.
As together as they were aloud.
"Minho... can we get together?"
"No, Hyunjin. You need me as your best friend and Chan as you lover and Jisung needs me too.
I'll always love you like we said but this should stay as it is."
And Minho was right.
Hyunjin said so himself, right before the accident.
Hyunjin knew.
He knew he would say no too because this was Minho and Minho would always say no.
Minho wasn't Chan.
Hyunjin was thankful.
Because Chan, Chan would always say yes.
